Sorry my bad.I was thinking CL mate
We went all spursy. What the hell happened in this game? I see the score 0-1 early on and assumed it was a done deal. Was the score flattering to them?
You posted exactly how I feel and how I have expressed myself on here this last few months. I am not even going to watch Saturday ( not spitting dummy out, helping son gf move) but I just can't cope with more of the same.Does Pep’s game only really work with the most elite players, on the top of their game?
I’d imagine I’m not allowed to say this on here, but I’m bored of knowing that we will concede goals on the break, that we don’t know how to defend apart from by keeping the ball - we then get desperate and make poor decisions because we aren’t set up to be defensively solid.
And on the attack… especially this season, we haven’t got a clue. We insist on having as much slow, sideways possession as possible, but we’d rather keep the ball than seize the moment when we’re breaking at speed (initially).
That was 2016 as well?Everton ?
A man who wins the lottery shouldn't have to accept faults on his brand new Rolls Royce just because it's still better than the 20 year old clapped-out Lada he used to drive. The "we was shite once so anything that happens in the future is ok" post. Bingo. What a load of shite, when we was shite it wasn't fun but it was expected. No pot to piss in, average players and so on. It isn't the 90s anymore mate, we are a juggernaut of a football club with the best manager and players in the game. Losing games happens, losing playing like a bunch of half arsed idiots shouldn't ever happen
Agree, if history shows there was a turning point in Pep's reign that was it. Very poor team performance (although we still had chances to win it !).I think performance wise we’ve not been great since losing to the Rags in the FA Cup final. We feel stale, predictable and one paced.
To busy bragging how much money we're worth and fighting in the courtroom. The failure to address the squads dire needs - especially in central midfield - last summer was suicidal. We badly needed a refresh for an aging squad in its last throws. Instead we got another winger that we didnt really need, and a 34 year old here for a testimonial year.
Peps last 4 additions in central midfield over the past 5 windows have been Phillips, Nunes, Kovacic and Gundo (age 34). Incredibly underwhelming.
KDB is 33 and his body is failing him; Gundo is 34 and his legs look like they have gone; Kovacic is 30 and Bernie is 30. We also had no cover in holding midfield - as a result of Rodri's injury we are wide open to any counter attack. One pass and teams are in at our back 4 and goal with ease. Sadly for us teams have cottoned on to this and the lack of legs/lungs in central midfield for us; we look slow, ponderous, one paced and tired. Haaland bailing us out with a goal or beating largely inferior teams like Brentford, Fulham, Wolves, Southampton have papered over the cracks.
If the club fails to add in January then we can wave goodbye to any hopes of honours this season. A reset and recharge of the squad was badly needed last summer and now is blatantly obvious and the alarm bells are ringing. Its been a fabulous run and large members of this squad have won the lot, but we look jaded and lethargic.
Th other 2 main issues hanging over us are of course the 115 nonsense, and what the manager's plans are - is he staying, is he going? Until we know we are sat in limbo.
