Sporting CP (H) - CL Last 16 | Post Match Thread

Potential for the shortest post match thread ever…. What actually is the shortest one if anyone knows. Yes the game bored me that much

Unfortunately seems like the fella next to me might have been dragged out at half-time for Sunday’s behaviour. Hopefully he’s back for the next match against Scousers. Minute silence for the fallen in 109 please lads and lasses.

Team did the job though. Thank fuck for beer.
Saw that I think, wondered what was going on.

Don't know what people were expecting. Played out almost exactly how I expected it to. That's what we do when we're 5-0 up with 20 minutes left, we just extended it to 90 minutes.

No reason whatsoever to put on a show, that just amplifies the risk of injury and avoiding injury was the main priority tonight.

Conrad did fine, nice play towards the end under a bit of pressure which showed the city upbringing.

If I want to be hyper critical of anything, I thought the subs were very weird. Mahrez is in prime form and has played plenty recently, he doesn't need minutes, Delap, kayky or Edozie should have been on instead. Mbete should have got more than 5 minutes, as much as Carsons appearance was the highlight of the night, why didn't he just start him if he was planning that.

Tie was done first leg, no issue with our approach, little bit odd Pep didn't experiment, this was the perfect game to do so rather than have him decide to do it in the league. Job done, nothing to take from it on to the next.

Fair play to the sporting fans, they sang constantly albeit aided by the loudest drum on the planet, they were watching just as drab of a game as we were and they were 5-0 down on aggregate to boot.

Typical scumbag behaviour with launching stuff though, our scrotes, which are breeding like mogwai's in the south stand didn't miss the opportunity to retaliate and once more the police were nowhere to be seen and their fans are free to do literally what ever they want. it's a pretty glaring security issue and one day we will play a team who come for a scrap and it will kick off badly, the whole steps used to be filled with a line of stewards and a line of police, now its about a dozen stewards max.

Exactly what I expected

I’ll take the positives

- no injuries or suspensions
- key players rested
- kids and fringe players got minutes
- clean sheet

I’ll never remember a second of this game again

at least we didnt recieve any new injuries
Lets hope not, but Bernardo took a knock just before half time which he limped away from (wasn't treated), so lets hope he's OK.

We played OK, in a very reserved way, but should still have won by 2 or 3, that Sterling miss at the end was terrible, he missed the goal by more than he was away from it.
