Spuds vs rags

I hate to say it, but in that second half, some of their attacking play was fantastic, albeit it was Spurs' first Premier League game, and it showed towards the end, but still quite impressive from them. Bit concerning from our point of view.

Why would Spurs 'roll over'? What have they got to achieve from that?
They are a poor side being beaten by a much better side who have at least 2 gears left. We should beat Spurs as comfortably as United have tonight, no reason why not other than them being at home but we've gone to a tough place in the Reebok, played shit hot and come away with a win. From what i've seen Bolton are better than Spurs, so on that basis we have nothing to worry about, especially not some po-faced conspiracy theory that they roll over against United! I mean really?!

I have seen absolutely nothing so far to suggest anything other than us and United going toe-to-toe for the title from about February onwards, if not before.
I don't think Spurs rolled over as such but they lacked any conviction whatsoever and were set up poorly. I have no problem accepting that Utd came good in the final thirty minutes but it reminded me of nothing more than us beating Villa 4-0 last year. Sometimes teams just don't turn up. I saw it coming a mile off when earlier in the week when Harry played his best team in a competition that he doesn't rate. The Modric thing is a big 'get it sorted, see how much it affects us' to Levy, as was the central midfield partnership. It's not that Harry thinks he can fool Levy, it's that he knows he can swing public opinion to put the pressure on him.

No way they will let us beat them as comfortably. Not for all the Adebayors in the world. The Modric situation will be resolved, they will actually play two central midfielders worthy of the title, (rather than a has been winger and a never will be youngster). And their attitude will be a hundred times better, they will want to make amends for this, get their season going, get the home fans on their side, and stick one over the team that beat them to the CL. If nothing else, I guarantee you that Lennon and VDV will suddenly remember how to pass to other players, and that Dawson will remember the basics of marking up in the area.

I watched Kranjcar pretty closely throughout the game -- he never made a long pass, and I don't remember a single instance where he passed the ball forward...

A typical AM, that is all, no "playmaker" anywhere in him. I thought 'Arry gave up on the stupid idea of trying to turn him into another Modric last year, but it seems like he's still trying.

good to see the rags out in force on bluemoon as soon as the game finishes

My post was 100% football related without winding anyone up. My post also came a good hour and a half after the game. If they close these boards to supporters of other teams I suppose I'll have to stop posting but until that happens I'm not sure what to tell you.

-- Mon Aug 22, 2011 2:40 pm --

It just seems like they said to fuck with it after the first goal. Before that it was anyone's game, and they also seemed to run out of steam about the 70th minute which is inexcusable at this level, even if it is their first game.

The average age of the RAGs squad tonight was 23..interesting.

Look, the Rags irritate me beyond words. But Spurs are something else. The Rags, in their own snobby, annoying way, have a right, as such, to be arrogant, to be up themselves, but Spurs? What have they ever done to prove that they are a top side.

And people are delusional in thinking that teams roll over for other teams. 2 sides go out, 22 guys, a ball, 2 nets, and they play, and the better team, 99.9% of the time, wins. Simple as.

Nobody intentionally gives in and rolls over. It's not all about luck either.
Like I said, they are scum at the best of times, (some of them anyway) but we're the fools for not being able or willing to call a spade a spade. They're a good team, they played well tonight. No shame in admitting that.

I agree once that 2nd goal went in spurs gave up unlike Bolton who Harrid and ran there bollocks of till the last seconds even petrov got back and defended when Mica got foward now that's rarity

So there we have it.

According to the media the rags have just won the title with world superstars such as Danny Welbeck.

First half there wasn't much in it. Second half there wasn't an awful lot in it until the goal, then United took full control for the rest of it.

If Lennon had any awareness or final ball he could have set up VDV for a goal. VDV's movement was excellent all through the match and he was getting more frustrated as the game wore on. Infact he got so pissed off he got greedy himself because the others weren't reading his game.

Disappointing game but I expected to lose. We don't travel that well, especially there.
