Just asked in the CL thread, can someone give me a brief rundown of why a lot of you seem to have a strong dislike of Spurs?? Cant just be the CL knockout game, seems tl be more to it.
I personally like them, am a big fan of Poch too. Havent come across a lot of their fans apart from 2 in work that are normal.
I'd have loved Ajax to win that and go on to win it in fairytale fashion but for all their passion, heart and skill, I just dont think they would be equiped to deal with the pressure the RS put teams under. Spurs are so much more equipped to deal with it, are very capable of beating them and have been unlucky in the last few times they have faced each other.
Have you just left school recently!! Some of us have long memories cvunts the lot of them
It started in 1981
Ricky Villa ring a bell?
LolThis lot can get fucked as well.
It's mainly down to the fanbase, which is normally how these things work.Just asked in the CL thread, can someone give me a brief rundown of why a lot of you seem to have a strong dislike of Spurs?? Cant just be the CL knockout game, seems tl be more to it.

A large proportion of them have always been in-proportionately arrogant about their club. People who were around watching football in the 60s-80s were already aware of this. I got the first sense of it when we were first breaking into the top 4 and they were still under Harry Redknapp. They were unbearably entitled and deluded, it has since been put into perspective only by Liverpool's support but that's not really a compliment is it?
Spurs are a historically big club no doubt but historically they've never been able to say they are bigger than City, I actually think both clubs are of a similar size with City perhaps edging it. Spent a larger percentage of our existence as a top flight club, higher in the all time topflight table, support/attendances - City also shade that, although we have had an advantage in capacity up until they started building the new stadium. They had an advantage in trophy counts but it's mainly FA cups and league cups, they still have the same amount of topflight titles as City had before the takeover at the end of the day. I already consider our current trophy haul more impressive than theirs but if we win the domestic treble we go above them mathematically this season.
Yeah it is pointless and City fans in general don't do other teams down like that(where's the need?), we just have to put up with a lot of it these days and certain fanbases are worse than others with it. I mean, even Poch tried to say it in one of his conferences in Peps first season, he was clearly repeating a sentiment he hears around the club all the time.Christ that first bit sounds like a smaller version of Liverpool.
These bigger club arguments are pointless imo, yes its good to have an illustrious history but without the present its pointless. Liverpool are the worst, they are not known as history FC for nothing and have known to create rivalries with whoever was at the top, even though they wernt competing at thst level, just to make themselves feel relevant. We have a few that live in the past too as im sure every club does. But as good as history is, it gets you nothing in todays game, just look at Forest, Leeds etc.
I have seen arguments with our fans and West Ham fans a year or two ago over history and attraction to players, when in reality any player playing today wont have seen either team win anything, wont care and will just want to see who has the most ambition and offers the most ££.
Fair fucks to them. They went through group on goal more scored than Inter and just because Inter couldn't beat PSV at home in last game, the team with a single point on their count in 5 games, they went through the quarters and semi on away goals but when you think they haven't spend a dime in last two transfer windows, that's remarkable result. And they deserved it last night, they played some great football.

I don't do the my club is bigger than yours shit, I don't believe our fanbase is like that but I will call out bullshit claims when I see them as we all should because happens too often from clubs with no claim to it these days.
Villa's goal shouldn't be a problem for City fans as lots of teams score against us and it's not as though Villa himself was particularly arsey about it. But their fans were a right bunch of twunts for both games at Wembley. But their fans are often a set of knuckle dragging morons; a mate of mine has twice been stabbed at WHL and was beaten up there as a young teanager; he'll probably be the only City fan wanting Spurs to lose in Madrid.Just asked in the CL thread, can someone give me a brief rundown of why a lot of you seem to have a strong dislike of Spurs?? A lot is to do with the media who have been blowing smoke up the Spurs arsehole for almost 60 years. It started when they won the double in 1961, and every cup win since then has been treated with a fanfare of a magnitude significantly greater than the achievement warrantied. Like the rags (and your neighbours) every positive aspect is magnified and most failures ignored.
The Villa goal is an example of this as it has become the symbol of the 1981 replay meaning Steve McKenzie's brilliant strike has been airbrushed from public knowledge.
I'm well within your parameters and was there in '81 for both games but fuck me, it was 38 years ago. Time to leave that crap in the past, it's not like we were angels.I would say that if you asked 1,000 City fans from say 40 yrs old plus, which of the London clubs do you dislike the most, around 90 % would give you Spurs as the answer,so many stories especially from the two games in 81,and riots at Maine Rd are testament to the reason they would be,a few won't understand this, but I'd say a lot would.

I FUCKING HATE SPURSI know,it was a long time ago,but some things in football fans minds are never forgotten,I was just using this as an example as to the most hated club in London through SOME City fans eyes, and my guess is I'm not too far off the money.
The FA Cup match at Maine Rd was another example of the hatred, when our defence only looked the strongest when there was 2 police horses in our box, another situation that never leaves football fans minds.
In saying this,If I really did give a fuck about who wins it now (and truth is I don't),my vote would go the them...........just.
