Spurs 2018/19

You will never be 4th or 5th biggest club in the country without competing for the league and winning trophies while paying their players properly.

I don't know why spurs fans are proud of their wage bill being so low, it's a joke that they've grown the turnover so much without giving any of the money to the players who got them there or new players to keep them there.

It was fortunate to have a good spell coinciding with a lot of other clubs going through upheaval. Now the rest are back on track Spurs are sliding further and further away from relevance and realising that leicester won their league title.

God help them if Emery does a decent job at Arsenal because their north London revolution will have lasted 2 years.

1. Spurs fans aren't proud of the club's wage bill per se. They're simply proud of how well the club performs relative to clubs with far higher budgets.

2. The wage bill is rising significantly - which is why Harry Kane just signed a new deal. I suspect that you'll see Spurs announcing a succession of new deals for their star players in the near future. Nevertheless, Levy will keep tight rein on the wage bill at or below the 50% of turnover benchmark.

3. The reason why wages still have to be tightly controlled is that Spurs will have had that obligation written into their stadium loan contracts with the banks.

4. Spurs were no more fortunate to have had a good spell over recent years than they were unfortunate to have had a bad spell just as the Premier League and Champions League were formed.

5. On what planet are Spurs "sliding further and further away from relevance"? Bizarre assertion.

6. Spurs' "north London revolution", as you call it, has been ongoing since 2004 - and has encompassed everything from first team to academy to training ground to stadium to community programme to financial performance to global marketing etc.

7. The transfer window is open for a further three weeks. Spurs have always tended to tie up their deals later than most because they are competing for players against clubs that can offer considerably more by way of transfer fees and wages. Certainly, lots of Spurs fans are having hissy fits on the internet about the club's lack of transfer activity thus far this summer. But given how the club always operates and given that the World Cup will have exacerbated the situation, what were they expecting? Players will be signed. That is all they need to know.

Spurs fans seem to be getting itchy feet over the complete lack of transfer activity.

It begs the question, if Pochettino wasn't promised a big transfer spend to sign his new contract, what exactly did they offer him?

They must be favourites to drop out of the top 4 now.

They are giving him a job for life with Zero pressure on mega money! If he was managing a top premier Spanish team he be sacked already.

Cushy job.

When you realise Nike couldn’t be bothered designing a new kit for Spurs so they just gave them Barcelona’s training kit...

They must be new Spurs fans because Levy is notorious for leaving it until the last minute. Son and Lamela signed contract extensions today and a possible signing of Grealish from Villa too. I'm still sitting on the fence with him

Agreed. I think they've overstretched themselves,

This could end up as another Leeds.
