Spurs (A) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

Never sensed the desire to win that game, Pep didn’t seem arsed either.

Positive was that we used 6 academy lads in a game and for periods we were more than competitive.

Injuries a serious issue now.
Pep was smiling at the end. He’s a cunning fox who knows going out of the Carabao Cup early will give us an advantage over Liverpool and Arsenal who went through.

Injuries obviously the biggest worry from last night, but second on the list is they way we conceded the first goal.

Basically the same as at Wolves - they work the ball to our left flank and put in a low cross behind our defence to their left winger who is pretty much free.

Maybe it's just a lucky coincidence, or maybe teams have noticed a weakness in our setup.
It's a weakness mate. And I am heartily peed off with it. I literally expect a succesful application of that move every game from whoever the opposition maybe. And 9/10 it happens.

Seen that same goal a few times recently.

I went to the game with that stupid feeling of being excited to see another game and knowledge we would lose it because Pep was saying it whoever wanted to listen and it was this haunted ground for us.
Two observations from the game. Right now we have a lot of players highly capable to schlepp the ball around in all different patterns, we are the best in the world, just to be totally ineffective once they hit the box.
And all the goals we are conceding this season is totally on Pep and his weird set up. I don't blame Rico or CBs at all, you need to be in the grounds to see our positional game to realise why we are so weak. Rico is not inverting at all, he just plays proper 8 when we are attacking, our left and right CB as some sort of wing backs good 80 yards from our own goal and It is only surprising we didn't concede even more with this tactical approach. It is like expecting a platoon of soldiers to defend the country size of Luxembourg. It is going to be fun season to watch, he is not relenting and he got himself ultra small squad will all these injuries and Foden retiring, exactly what he likes.
Saying all this, Nunes started showing his quality.
Foden Retiring?

I agree we are conceding goals that are almost a carbon copy of each other but we have always kept a very high line and I would expect that goals like this have been conceded throughout Pep's time with us.

I thought the kids were excellent in that first half, hate the loss but probably a blessing really.

Really proud of our Academy players some real talent that will have good careers, Simpson-Pusey looked to the manor born a really promising cameo from him.
I thought they handled Spuds over physicality really well, would like to see Nunez given a run in CM.

Naturally don’t like losing but in the big picture of this season with so many injuries we are better off out of the Carabao cup . You need home draws in this competition to progress as the stronger teams then put out weakened teams against you , we got a tough away draw just like last season it’s nearly always a bridge too far . Some great performances from the young players a big plus for the future. We now move on and back to the PL ……. Top of the league !

I woke up on Wednesday morning at 3 and couldn't get back to sleep(stressed with buying a house) so got to half time and fell asleep, woke up with Spurs parading around the pitch like they'd won the treble..WTAF!!haha! Small time Herbert's. Blessing in disguise being out of this. Just hope these 2 injuries are not serious. Pep really needs to go and spend some conkers in January.

Dreadfull first 30 mins yesterday, then we dominated but couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo in front of goal for the rest of the game.
Piss poor to be honest.

We played well last night love watching the youth players but didn't expect to win last night and am glad we are out!

Looks like spurs can get up for games when they play the teams they not favourites for so no pressure! Let's see how they go on in there next game!

I think it is time that the CL teams put the
Bournemouth game is huge now.

Win that, chuck the sporting game - we got plenty of games left to qualify.

The Bournemouth game absolutely isn't huge from whatever angle you look at it.

It's infinitely more important to qualify in the top 8 positions of the CL than any league game we play till February.
