Spurs (A) Post match Thread

They could have won the league twice in that time and had 2 semi final appearances. They had their chances but blew them.

also the 2 clowns neville and carragher going on about spurs not winning the title and not spending big money on the squad in trying to win the league, maybe they should look and talk about the truth ??? when another club is so far in front (manchester city) spending big money on chancing 2nd or 4th is daft, just ask united and liverpool are they any better than spurs NOPE, united must be up to £ 700million since fergie left 5 years ago and liverpool not that far behind

for me spurs have got it spot on build a new stadium now and just wait and see and try and ride out the storm that is called (manchester city) yes it may take 5 to 10 years but why waste money in knowing it's what everybody else is doing in chasing 2nd best and not looking to the future, united are miles off after chasing city and liverpool been chancing united and city for 30 years and still not won the title

Respectfully disagree.

I think that Spurs have underspent.

Competition for the top 4 is fierce - Us - Liverpool - Arsenal - Chelsea - United - and Spurs. There are 6 teams on that list - and finishing out of the top 4 is financially punishing. Spurs are unlikely to win the league - but they need to spend more to give themselves the best chance possible of finishing top 4 (which is now much more in doubt than it need be if they'd only have spent).

Great result.
That pitch was an embarrassment, this is the English Premiership ffs, having that NFL logo on it and all the lines was shambolic, somebody (probably Spurs) should get their arses kicked for it, they fucked up the building of their stadium and we have to suffer.
Mendy was a liability and walker had a pretty bad game, all the others played very well, Ferna, David & Laporte were excellent (and Ederson)
I though Pep shouldve brought Sane on for Raz on 70min as Raz seemed to be tiring and Sane's pace wouldve made a difference.
Good game to watch although the last 7 or 8 minutes were a bit painful , So happy we won.

In amateur football if you can't provide a decent pitch on the day of the fixture then the points are forfeited.

I'm from the States (but am not a big fan of American football).

Anyhow, my take on this...

How hard would it have been to have the City/Spurs game on, say Saturday (or Sunday) and then screw up the field for a Sunday/Monday American football match (i.e., play the American football match the day following the City/Spurs game - since the City/Spurs game won't have ruined the pitch for American football - rather than the other way round)?

I don't think the competition will be that fierce this year.

City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal will be the top 4, Spurs will slide out because they've spread themselves too thin and United will have another 13/14.

I don't see how we're in disagreement. Spurs are in jeopardy of finishing out of the top 4 b/c they haven't spent; United may eke out a top-4 spot b/c they'll almost certainly spend big in the Winter window and, if you throw enough money at something - however ill-spent - you're bound to eventually succeed (Chelsea are vulnerable for me - a Hazard injury away from finishing out of the C/L spots unless some sort of compensating signings occur over the Winter window).

I think we disagree because you think it'll be close, and United have a chance, whereas I'm pretty confident Spurs will be 5+ points off 4th and United are more likely to finish 7th or 8th than get close to the top 4.

Perhaps so.

I think that United will spend a ton in the winter window (if they've half a clue they'll spend in accord with the desires of whomever manages their team at the time) - perhaps they'll spend enough/get lucky enough to finish top 4. Spurs for me remain a dark horse - but they'll be somewhat in the mix I think (I don't have them finishing top 4 though).

For me, City and Liverpool are nailed on for top 4 - beyond that, it's a race.

I think Chelsea will get Top 4 too, which leaves the 4th and 5th places for....any one from Arsenal or Spurs.

Meaning Man Ure finish 6th or below.

it was a big big game that we all tended to forget and with what went on at leicester and with the pitch in a right state and the media pressure and spotlight on us and klopps liverpool having a 20 point lead just about makes it impossible to win, but you know what this is pep and new city and this squad never takes 2nd best and the taste of glory has got to us all, we are like a dog with a bone dare you try to take it off us we will bite you

forget the pitch and most of the team having a nightmare ?? but just having pep on the bench sends out the message that nobody else has got and he is the fear factor, i know people say its a team sport and its player based, but nobody i have ever seen manager of manchester city has total power and respect that pep command from everybody its like a composer and his orchestra everything is controlled by him pace timing front and back rows strings its a master at work

any other manager and his team at manchester city over the years would folded and lost that game and by a big score last night, then took the easy way out and blamed the pitch and the players and skysports and the fans and the tea lady, but we are talking about the greatest manager ever and am talking world football and premier league and europe as ever seen, we are so blessed to have pep as manager of manchester city and its like all our Christmases have all come at once
Yep. We will miss him when he is gone.
