Wow it’s possible to argue that every player on the bench is stronger than the player they could replace on the pitch.

Ignoring the goalie (which was nonsense anyway) there's 6(?) on the bench only just back at the club, we'd have a massive injury pile up playing them from the start.

No it's only mentioned for one purpose, to imply we buy success and spend more than any other club. I'd be happy with, "What a squad City have assembled, look at the strength of their bench alone."
