Spurs (H) 2nd Leg - Post Match Thread

Close but not for me. The ball hits his arm but he makes no movement towards the ball then it goes in off his thigh.

But bloody hell the offside was harsh. Half a shoelace? That’s level to me.

He makes no movement towards the ball?

He jumps in the air towards the ball in order to make contact with the ball.

Absolutely deflated.

Brilliant performance by the lads to get us within touching distance of the semifinal, but ultimately it just wasn’t good enough. Pep's unfathomable tactics in the first leg cost us, but we were brilliant tonight. Just such a shame that we couldn’t pull it off.

Our nine year-old grandson was at his first CL game tonight, and he was in tears when Spurs scored their second and when our "fifth" went in. It will make him stronger.

Hairs on his chest tomorrow ;)

Massive appreciation to all those who attended tonight - what an atmosphere. You must all be absolutely shattered and hoarse.
Just home. Absolutely knackered. Great atmosphere but so gutted still. I don’t think I’ll ever celebrate a goal again when var is involved. I was hugging and kissing hairy arsed strangers then POW! All taken away and as well as being gutted, I felt like a right idiot. I bet all the staff in the corner did too. Hate var. it’s going to totally ruin the match day experience from now on

I have been someone who called for VAR and from what I’ve heard it was correct decision to disallow Sterling’s goal, but I’m now getting worried it could kill football, fans are going to become scared to celebrate goals and also the players. The main reason people go to the game is in the hope they can celebrate goals,

If Llorente's goal had been disallowed barely a Spurs fan would have complained. If the same had happened to Sergio (for example) barely a City fan would have said it should have been a goal.

There were so many events that could have changed the tie. We had a good three or four more golden chances to score today. Had the wind blown differently we might have gone through...

Seriously though, we’d have struggled again in the next round or two. That back four simply isn’t good enough to win the Champions League. Our other players pull us through the Premier League. But we have not been solid enough defensively to reliably defend a slender lead since Mancini.

If we’re serious about winning this thing then we should go all out for Koulibaly and bring in two more quality full-backs. That’s on top of replacing Fernandinho and, most likely, Gundogan.

We can't concede 3 at home and expect to go through but I reckon we'd have beat Ajax and Barca or Liverpool in a one off neutral venue game.
