Spurs (H) 2nd Leg - Post Match Thread

At home now, quenching dry throat with a beer. Sensational match and deserved a better outcome. I will not watch any highlights or 'The Decisions' as this will only piss me off more !
Just kill 'em on Saturday city.

As much as it pains me to say this, Guardiola just isn’t a good CL manager. His game management in this competition has been woeful for quite some time.

VAR aside, damage was done in the first leg, lost, missed penalty, no away goal. Conceding 3 at home inexplicable. No way on this earth should we have gone out to Spurs over 2 legs, 16 points behind in PL and GD 34 worse.

I thought Ederson should have stopped two of their goals and maybe should have gone to punch that first corner.

Laporte making two errors is very disappointing. Whether it's an unfortunate coincidence or he bottled it I don't know but a repeat performance in another big game would be a worry.

My one gripe with Pep is picking Silva.

However, we got some big performances tonight and I don't want to blame individuals for such a huge team effort that only saw them go out on the away goals rule, which I have long thought to be a crap rule. Much as I have never been in favour of the change of the offside rule from "daylight".

Ederson was poor tonight. I think he should have done better with the goal last week too.

I have been someone who called for VAR and from what I’ve heard it was correct decision to disallow Sterling’s goal, but I’m now getting worried it could kill football, fans are going to become scared to celebrate goals and also the players. The main reason people go to the game is in the hope they can celebrate goals,
Some fans..of some teams...will celebrate all 'goals' confidently.

As Tolmie rightly says, it's sad to see David Silva's obvious decline. Maybe in hindsight

I'd refer more to our defensive issues....

Did the linesman flag before the decision went to VAR for the offside goal, couldn't see as I almost had a seizure then had to sit back in me seat before I collapsed

There was no flag, someone obviously wanted to find a reason to cancel it.

Let's think of it this way......

Spurs will end the season pot less, and possibly out of the top 4.

Liverpool will end the season pot less, and heart broken they haven't won anything again, which will cause much distress and effect them next season.

United will end the season pot less, and probably out of the top 4, and with Ole in charge probably be shit next season as well.

However, we already have two trophies in the bag, in another final and once we've won our next two games, will be top of the league with three to play.

It's not all bad.

This. Win the next 6 games and today's game is an afterthought
