Spurs (H) 2nd Leg - Post Match Thread

Shite view from 111 so no idea if we wuz robbed or not. Great occasion. I’m a pragmatist and wholly buy into the idea that cup competitions are to a fair degree a lottery so no knee jerk reaction from me based on a narrow exit over 2 legs. Win the league and I’ll barely remember this game.

The nagging voice in the back of my mind though keeps asking the question “should we really have to score 5 goals to progress against a side like spurs”. The phrase“game management” is also back there.

Anyhow well done to the crowd and what a player Raz has become, one of the very best in Europe

Just back from the game. First of all we should be so proud of that team, what a spectacle that was.

Was disappointed to see so many Spurs fans occupying quality seats in L2, but there were no issues

Laporte bottled the occasion and Ederson was poor. David Silva is declining at an alarming rate now, which is sad to see.

Ederson came and flapped at the first corner before the second one from the other side went in.

I thought the rest of the lads were bloody brilliant and very proud they got a deserved victory on the night.

Walker had another good game.

I thought Ederson should have stopped two of their goals and maybe should have gone to punch that first corner.

Laporte making two errors is very disappointing. Whether it's an unfortunate coincidence or he bottled it I don't know but a repeat performance in another big game would be a worry.

My one gripe with Pep is picking Silva.

However, we got some big performances tonight and I don't want to blame individuals for such a huge team effort that only saw them go out on the away goals rule, which I have long thought to be a crap rule. Much as I have never been in favour of the change of the offside rule from "daylight".

I have been someone who called for VAR and from what I’ve heard it was correct decision to disallow Sterling’s goal, but I’m now getting worried it could kill football, fans are going to become scared to celebrate goals and also the players. The main reason people go to the game is in the hope they can celebrate goals,

Can’t even celebrate a 30 yard screamer for fear of someone being stood offside in the keepers eyeline, a foul in the build up, ball being out of play. All things that you might miss when watching the game live. Totally ruins the match day experience as you’re constantly on edge with no chance to see any of the contested decisions on a big screen.

I hate it already.

Just home. Absolutely knackered. Great atmosphere but so gutted still. I don’t think I’ll ever celebrate a goal again when var is involved. I was hugging and kissing hairy arsed strangers then POW! All taken away and as well as being gutted, I felt like a right idiot. I bet all the staff in the corner did too. Hate var. it’s going to totally ruin the match day experience from now on

Me and 50,000 others also hugged that stranger!

He makes no movement towards the ball?

He jumps in the air towards the ball in order to make contact with the ball.

Just shows how difficult it is. I think he pulls his arm towards his body and away from the ball but many would agree with you.

I’ve drawn a line following the angle of the grass and get Agueros ankle level with the Spurs defender but nobody agrees with me! It depends on where you view it from but the stills show level for me and he should have been given the doubt. Not one player appealed.

Think it’s part of the UEFA rules that one. They have to get so many quality seats.

Mentioned it in another thread, it's already effected my reaction as my focus goes to the ref after we have scored. The one at the end I got lost in the heat of the moment and then bang.. gone from ecstasy to despair. Take emotion out of football and you may aswell just watch it on the box.

I’m gutted. Truly, truly gutted. In fact I haven’t felt so low after a match in a long long time.

But it’s got to be said, conceding 3 away goals in a champions league tie is absolutely criminal. You can’t expect to go through when you make things that difficult for yourself
