Spurs (H) Post Match Thread

The game should of been put to bed long before var had a chance to do us over. I’m sure Pep will be thinking the same this morning
Correct, VAR should have had no impact on the result as we had enough chances to win 3 games yesterday, some very poor finishing, and poor decision making from our forward players I'm afraid. As good as we played we also gave away two quite poor goals as well.

So having slept on it, hoping to calm down, I'm still fuming.

Fuming that having watched City play some incredible, fantastic and mesmerising football and totally dominating a cowardly Spurs team, we still ended up with only one point.

Fuming that out of 30 chances created we only scored 2 (3 really!) goals and allowed Spurs to score 2 from 2. I have always said that if you are so wasteful with your chances then the football gods will kick you in the bollocks, and very rarely am I proved wrong.

But, I have to save the larger part of my wrath for what is becoming the increasingly more frequent and obvious dishonest officiating directed towards my team. The one (probably two) penalty decisions 'missed' by Oliver and clearly blatantly ignored by VAR were a disgrace. And it is unquestionably apparent that any match winning or influencing goal scored by City will be scrutinised to a level way above that of any of our rivals.
Sure, they'll give us the odd VAR decision when it doesn't really matter, like the retake of Aguero's goal in order to throw us off the scent, but Jesus' goal yesterday and Raz being 1mm offside has already highlighted what they're up to imo.

So where does that leave me going forward?

I saw enough over that last two games to show we are so far above anyone else that once we get our sharpness and fitness up to speed over the coming weeks there isn't a football team in the land that is going to stop us. that's where the EPL, PiGMOL and VAR come in!!

We need to get behind the Blues, face up to this shit together and win this league in spite of their best efforts.

If we win the league this year it will be the best ever and one of Pep's greatest achievement.

COME ON YOU BLUES!

exactly -so there is room for human error or if you want to look at it from a really negative point of view, room for corruption.

However we have to believe (or we may as well not bother with the game) that that wont happen. If we belive its corrupt, why bother? Do i believe it is corrupt; no....do i belive refs (with or without VAR will make mistakes - yes...but more importantly do i believe different refs iwll interprit the same incident differently - yes....30 years ago noone would have been arguing about that being a foul by Lamela on Rodri - it was part of the game just as the inicident where Ottomendi went up for a high ball with their keeper, eyes firmly on the ball not even looking at the keeper and they have collided and the ref deems that a foul by Ottomendi - do i think thats foul no,,did the ref, yes...does that rule need looking at - yes but even then it will all come down to intepritation

In that case, why bother with VAR at all. Leave it to the referee. The point is that the referee acts in full view. He can fuck us over once or twice and that's what we expect. VAR opens up an opportunity for someone we xan't see or hear and who doesn't have to explain themselves to fuck us over on something neither the ref nor the players are aware of.

You may not believe it's corrupt, but, if you're right, it's the only multi-billion pound industry in history that isn't.

i agree with you......maybe VAR isnt the way but we have to acknowledge that people like Pep who know so much more than us are huge backers of it.....

The problem with what went on yesterday, is that the VAR twit didn't manage to spot the clear and obvious penalty against Rodri, but he did manage to see the ball (allegedly, IMO) hit Laporte's arm.

That must be down to one of two things: incompetence or corruption. The fact that we know that we have many enemies, means that I'm going with the latter. And for all those who will claim that I'm being paranoid, then I will say that you must have more faith in the cheats running the game than I have!

I've yet to see decent and conclusive proof. The angle that was initially shown, seemed to look like Laporte's arm was hit, but you'd have think (especially after the Llorente debacle) they'd use all available angles
If they had a shot of it hitting his arm, don't you think we'd have been shown it?

Q E fucking D.
