Spurs (H) - Post-Match Thread

Having seen the score on Saturday didn't watch MOTD read a paper or acknowledge the match had happened. Just back from the Turf Burnley put a brave guttsie performance, but Spurs were bobbins how the f**k they beat City I don't know.

It was their cup final pure and simple. Really hope they get ECL now.

They beat us because we STILL haven't signed a high quality left back, or high quality striker. Yet we've been happy to buy Grealish for twice what the dippers have paid for Diaz.
The beat us because half the team had an off day. Those we have relied on for so long had their poorest games in a blue shirt.
Spurs, to their credit took full advantage and that’s pretty much it.

Probably been discussed earlier but what would you have done if you were Pep after we got it back to 2-2 ? Risk it by going for it knowing 3 points would've given us a lovely cushion or shut up shop take the point and still have a point advantage if we lose to the Dippers ?

When Arsenal drew 0-0 at Anfield Ben White was asked by the interviewer why they couldn't play the same against Nottingham Forest who had just dumped them out of FA cup. Because having 20% of the ball would really have seen them do well against Forest. Crazy as it is to say our style of play makes it very easy for the opposition in a lot of ways, even Chelsea in CL final could approach it with no pressure or expectation of controlling the ball and their forwards play with freedom on the odd break. In previous seasons 35% possession seemed the magic number to pull off these type of results, now it's closer to 25%, can only see these extemes in stats continuing.

Been banging on about it for a while but something needs to change to bring skillful passing football back in line with defensive organisation and physicality. A worry for when Pep goes as well, one of the best possession managers ever but it's still tremendously risky.

Thing is, we didnt lose because we "wemt for it", we just defended horribly both on the counter and in established defence. We had more than enough bodies back for their third

We've papered over the cracks in the team for a few years. No striker (s) , no left back since Kolorov... Not replaced Kun ,El mago, Sane.....The Pep ball method is great over a Season but an individual days it can come unstuck.
