Spurs (H) - Post-Match Thread

Yeah he was that deep he scored twice 6 yards out.

Just what was the point of your post?
He essentially marked rodri when we had possession for the whole game and dropped deep constantly to link play, including the first goal. He may have scored from 6 yards but his run, particularly for his first, was from very deep.

Thoroughly disappointing result. To lose after managing to pull ourselves back into the game is juvenile. They sat back with a solid line of 5 with 4 close in front of them and just hit us on the break. Yet again we get caught out by that tactic. All their goals were similar. Our defence was quite poor, esp the fullbacks. The midfield and front three were all over the show really. There were a lot of poor passes, our attack frequently seamed to consist of us trying to thread the ball through a packed centre or booting it into the centre for a vertically challenged individual against a giant and solid defender. After two + years of attacking teams who play the same way against us you'd have thought we'd have found an answer.

Laporte and Dias never look comfortable together but we usually get away with it. Pick Stones and then decide which of those two to play with him

Foden looks like he's more interested in tattoos and beers with Grealish at the moment. Spell in the reserves would do wonders for his ego.

Cancelo either needs to defend occasionally or we need a system that covers for him.

They only left their box 4 times and scored each time. Next two games, teams will look to do the same and have the pace to hurt us. Spurs didn't even have pace and didn't need it to find the gaps.

Rodri - we were in the blue shirts, lad.
good post, specifically agree re Foden.

Yep. Conte out tacticed pep

Think it’s more likely they have a ‘suicidal performance’ like they tend to have away form against attack minded sides.
Well they won at the Etihad last season so they’ve got it in their locker

But maybe thats the reason for his dip in form.
What is his best position? What position is he gonna make his own? Because at the mo hes a 6/10 player
Disjointed, definitely but he seems a little indecisive in his approach of late, which tbf pep alluded was going to happen last year after his meteoric rise… he ran his knackers off but he isn’t to be blamed for this, the system conte employed isolated his strengths and he is a front front player who was invariably on the back one today…
