Spurs (h) pre-match thread

I'd love to see Nolito but I'm guessing he's showing nothing in training to warrant a place even on the bench

At home I fancy our chances. We've actually played a lot better in the big home games and I can see us stepping up once again.

Our players only seem to be motivated for these type of games and show any passion.

He needs to play Sane and have Jesus (hopefully) on the bench. His youthful exuberance and will to impress will make a big difference - it may also put the pressure on Sergio to pull his finger out.

Anything could happen, if things go our way we could win, we certainly have that in us on our day but frankly, I need a wipe for my fanny because I suspect we are much more likely be in for a bit of a mauling. Spurs to win by 2 or 3.

Those hoping Jesus starts are praying we get his registration done in time.

No chance he will trust Sane in this game.

Needs to do a Jose park the bus and pray we have enough men behind the ball

Sane may well start as he is both good going forward and covers well which we'll need as Walker will attack whoever is playing left back.

We should never park the bus at home. What we should be doing is to make sure we pick a team that matches Spurs work rate on and off the ball.

We simply haven't got the players available to compete physically with Spurs so we need a change of ideas.
Guardiola is famed for his willingness to adapt to opposition. We've not seen it yet mind.

With our physical limitations we need a different angle.

I would revert back to early season, use the inverted fullbacks and play both Silva a De Bruyne centrally and the pace of Sane and Sterling wide.

.............Bravo..........
Stones Kompany Otamendi Delph
..................Ya Ya...................
...........Silva.......De Bruyne.....
Sterling..........................Sane
....................Sergio..............

Spurs play one up front with little width from the forwards. Sterling and Sane should should negate Spurs' full backs. Their width.

Delph & Stones should be able to help YaYa with Ali & Eriksson.

I think we'd look a lot more solid and far less subjectable to the counter.
Leaving Sagna out is harsh as he's our best defender. But Stones offers more on the ball if we're after the inverted full back.

It will be a very big ask.

Pep came here thinking every game from the "lesser" teams would be marked with them respecting our squad quality and it would a 3-0 stroll away at every week at Tenerife/Getafe.
West Ham 5-0 is what he is used to in Spain/Germany, teams who try until they concede and then they wilt.
He assumed this league was inferior and now he isn't even scrambling to recover.
He's starting to look like Villas Boas.
Don't like the guy, don't like his comments about us fans (that was a big turn off).
He looks alarmingly out of his depth,
Old red nose at the swamp would have put him in a psych ward with mind games by now.
Thank god he's not around.

sniff

Spurs probably can't wait to play us, knowing we are up shit creek, they will be looking for a cricket score.
Until we stop haemorrhaging goals AND putting away the chances we actually make, we will continue get smashed every game. The beating of WHU wasn't down to our superiority, but their incompetence and lethargy.
We really need to stop this rot, or we will be lucky to finish 5th or 6th. Difficult decisions ahead for Pep, he's been exposed and although he's trying to mould a team that he's inherited, there can be no excuses when he probably has sufficient funds at his disposal for players and plenty of other options. I really hope he can turn this around and I want to see him succeed with us, but IMO we are staring down the barrel of 7th if this comedy of errors continues.

Fair to say i have absolutely no idea what will happen. Capable of winning 5-0, capable of losing 5-0.

Hit them with pace. Once we've drawn their attackers in with the neat passing at the back, get on yer bike and break. Run at them. That's the whole point i thought?

Come on Blues. 3-1.

This is an absolute must win now. If we can win it i think we still have a (very slim) shot at the tittle. Lose it and we are very much in a battle for Champions League qualification given that the Rags should win against Stoke and our confidence is on the floor already.

I'd like to think that the Everton result will be the wake up call for our players and we can put a run together from here but I though the same thing after Leicester and then the second half performance against Arsenal but that all went to shit

We will be 5 points off fourth spot and in 6th spot if we lose on Saturday with confidence at the lowest ebb since the takeover given expectations etc.

Make no mistake we are already up against it to finish in a top four spot.

No chance for the title and given how many of the current squad will be moved on and know it and still being picked each week who are all past their best it will be a major miracle if we finish top four this season.

Given that sides can win titles from finishing outside the top six now and this may become the norm it would not surprise if we challenged seriously next year without Chumps League football.

Pochetino is a fantastic coach, he'll plan like all good teams to press us and make us play long giving the ball straight back to them. We'll make a few chances but we don't look clinical at the moment. Wanyama and Dembele will totally dominate the midfield. Can see this being a comfortable and not a shocking 1-4 away win for Spurs.

I`m worried by their midfield, Wanyama, Dembele, Dele Ali, and Dyer, Stronger, faster, more direct. Add to that a better goalie and better fullbacks and better C/B`s were fucked

I fear we could get torn a new one.

fortunately football is a crazy game, who knows we could win it, fingers and toes crossed we do.

Forgot about him as well, scary. Kane cost them nothing and there is their starting 11 from Saturday. Under 90 million for them and a millon miles from our current starting 11.

And Levy has there wage bill only at 106m that club is run very well all thats missing is trophies and if they dont win owt in the next 2 seasons players and manager be off.

i am confident we can beat spurs and be back in the mix for a top 4 finish , as we surely cant be that bad 2 weeks in a row

After yesterday I think we'll get another hammering but I also thought that after Leicester and we beat Arsenal despite being under strength.

Willy

Sagna Otamendi Stones Clichy

Fernando Yaya

Sane De Bruyne Sterling

Aguero

I'm also losing patience with Bravo I'm not going to try defend him anymore. I don't think Silva & De Bruyne in the same side works I believe De Bruyne is best played behind the forward. I'd play the wingers of Sane and Sterling to stop Rose and Walker having a free run down the wings. I hope Fernando is fit if not I'd play Delph I wouldn't put Zaba in Midfield. Hopefully Kompany is back and for me he can replace Stones who for me has been terrible (so far) at City.

Gunna go with my head on this 1 and say win win 2-1 but I wouldn't be surprised at all if we lose.
