Spurs Thread 2012

Re: Harry Redknapp one of the worst managers in PL?

Not read any of this thread

But as a hammers supporter and Harry being my the manager during my first seasons with west ham, he is loved by me.

he bought through some amazing youth, J. Cole, Carrick, Ferdinand etc, and his signings were amazing Hartson, Di Canio, Foe .

Getting us to 5th was an amazing acheivment.

great manager.

I only read this recently but it's a belter to prove the old saying that a leopard never changes it's spots :

In 1984, AFC Bournemouth were drawn to play our local rivals in the FA Cup 3rd round. It was going to take some giant-killing for the Cherries to overcome Stretford's finest down on the Sarf coast. As is tradition in these types of cup games, the local press, public and businesses all rallied round to build-up the match. The town had cup fever. Local Italian restaurant Di Luca's went as far as offering Bournemouth keeper Ian Leigh free pizzas for a lifetime he kept out the rags frontline. As we all know, Harry Redknapp's charges turned the red bastards over 2-0 and everyone was happy except for Ron Atkinson and his motley crue of slapped arses. Shortly after however, the goalkeeping hero was informed that his "lifetime supply" had ran out. The restaurant had been bought and the new management had decided not to honour the deal.

The new proprietor? Why obviously, one Harry Redknapp.

Nobody noticed this due to me posting it at the bottom of the previous page. Markt85 still holds a candle for Twitcher so when I tried to get him to bump the thread, he ignored my little anecdote about the 'triffic' one.

You know your spreadsheets are great but can be summed up in one simple equation

Total Net Spend of City - Total Net Spend of Spurs = City Better than you

For proof of this equation see previous result

Now say thank you for us being gracious enough to lend you adebayor and move along

Well yes, when you run your football club without any regard to financial viability, it's very easy to spend more than Spurs do.

Just remind me how much your owner Joe Lewis lost on his Bear Stearns stake in the 2008 banking collapse.

(For those that don't know, the Spurs owner invested $1bn in the above bank hours before it collapsed. He lost the lot. Whereas Sheikh Mansour invested in Barclays and made the same amount when he sold those shares. Who would any intelligent person say is the more astute?)

He (& Levy) also spend a lot of money buying property and developing it. Initially the land is not viable for a few years but by investing in it and building facilities that attract people, it becomes more valuable.

The thing is, if they'd done the same for Spurs, they might have a regular CL spot. But they didn't.

Re: Harry Redknapp one of the worst managers in PL?

I certainly don't think he is the worst, he has some very good attributes for certain teams but is he cut out for where spurs are now? I don't think so.

Re: Harry Redknapp one of the worst managers in PL?

That win against Liverpool yesterday has bumped Harry's stats up making him the most successful manager, statistically speaking, since Spurs joined the Football League in 1908.

Let's not let the facts get in the way of an agenda.

Presumably the suits at Spurs will commission a trophy for him and rename the ground 'Harry Redknapp Lane'.

Or, having brains in their heads, they might realise that stats like this mean nothing and subsequently decide to do sod all to mark this incredible achievment.

People can have snide remarks about Harry but he's broke over a 100 year history at your club that is an achievement and I think he'll get you in the top four again.....

Do you think your fans will be happy with just top four every year? Because as you read on here expectations go through the roof, fans expect to win every game and every trophy going, when your team has reached a certain level consistently fans are always looking and wanting the next step/improvement to a already a top quality squad! Some fans are never Happy and that's a fact
