I don't mean to rub any salt in but this really has been a poor title defence. I think it's worse than Arsenal's against us in 2005. It seemed that you didn't really care to fight for it, which I'd be disappointed in. Contrast to how you fought against us the in the cup and collapsed here - it shows that it wasn't a form or quality issue, just a question of desire.

Sums it up perfectly imo.
Bob seems to think desire is something that automatically comes with the territory of being a pro- footballer. It doesn´t. Perhaps in Italy the mentality is different but with the generation of Chavs and astronomically paid players we have in the P.L. something more is required to get them to perform week in, week out. That´s why teams have managers - not just to pick the starting 11

Bob can slag the players all he likes but when you see him sat on his own hands like yesterday, offering nothing in the way of changing a game that was slipping away from us, he should possibly look a little closer to home instead of playing the blame game.

I think you make some very good points.

Looking at both squads of players, there's really not that much between City and Spurs (perhaps overall City have more quality) so in theory matches between us should be fairly evenly balanced.

The difference is what the respective managers do when things aren't going exactly to plan.

Yesterday, we saw how André Villas-Boas changed the course of the match by reverting to "Plan B" and all three of the substitutes (Huddlestone, Holtby and Defoe) were marked improvements on the players they replaced.

By contrast, Mancini simply sat there like a man watching a car crash in slow motion.

The irony of this is that earlier this season, when we came from behind to beat Spurs at COMS, it was Bobby who made the big change whilst AVB sat on his hands and the floodgates opened on his team.

I still don't understand why Bobby didn't take Dzeko off at halftime for another midfielder.

A good call but i guess my main gripe Dan is that Kolarov would have been my last option.....

As soon as he came on i knew the game was lost,a draw at best.

The fact that AVP switched Bale to the right flank when Kolarov came on was very telling........

I don't think he did it because Kolarov came on as that actually made it a worse plan. Bale wasn't really a threat until the game was all but over, he found it hard to find space between the lines in the centre of the pitch in the first half as Barry and Yaya were sat deep and Spurs weren't playing with their usual width so the centre of the pitch was crowded. In the 2nd half he was up against two left backs so again struggled for space. He scored their 3rd goal by which point we'd pretty much given up.

Bale said in his interview after the game that AVB told him that the midfield was congested but there was space for him on the wings and told him to use the space there. AVB noticed this so changed it and the space and time Bale had to cross the ball for the equalizer was poor

A bit too much is made of subs when the game turns upon their introduction.

It was Bale and his pass that got Spurs back into the hunt combined with some poor defending on our part and a good finish by Defoe that undid us.

Having seen the match a number of times their was little in it for the first 75 minutes and Spurs had created little to worry Hart.

Most supporters look for scapegoats when things go sour and Dzeko and Mancini were top of the list yesterday.

Fact is as Hart said we coasted at 1-0 because Spurs gave us little to concern ourselves with and should have gone harder for a second which would have buried Spurs which were more than capable of doing.

Spurs had 3 or 4 very good chances in the 1st half, they just didn't convert them. There's no way they had given Hart "very little" to concern himself with.
