SSN Breaking News — Gareth Barry [merged]

Re: SSN Breaking News — Gareth Barry [merged]

Hi guys Villa fan here. Thought I would just say that is something I wasn't expecting! Nice forum you have here! City must have offered big bucks for us to accept it. Would be sad to see Gareth go but I do think he can get replaced. You would be getting a hardworker who clears up in midfield. Only problem with Barry is he slow as hell if he loses the ball he struggles to get back. He is very versatile too, but don't think he is very good at LB

Even though he would have lied to Villa fans about leaving for Champions League I would wish him the best great servent to th4 club. Would rather he went City than Liverpool that is for sure, filthy disgraceful club! Im hoping its a big cash deal or Richards or Sturridge is included. Be interesting to see how this truns out
!

Hello, how do you feel about the rumoured £12,000,000? I'd say that's a steal for us...

Re: SSN Breaking News — Gareth Barry [merged]

Villa don't strike me as the type of club to go public on a transfer unless it was nailed on...

Could be a ruse to flush Liverpool/whoever out and cash in on him whilst they still can, he's pretty much said he wants to try his luck with a bigger club/Chumps league and only has one year left on contract. Liverpool are stuffed for cash at the minute and are supposedly after Tevez like us - will they have to sell Alonso and could we end up with both?

Like Barry, honest pro and committed player and would gladly take him but maybe too similar to what we already have (Vinny/De Jong)? would rather focus on getting centre back/strikers as this is where we are weak.

Manchester City are building a side to break the monopoly of the ‘big four’ and will be splashing serious sums of cash to make that happen. Barry will be the first of an array of world-class players to pitch in at Eastlands this summer.

Fingers crossed great signing, much betetr than Parker!!!!

I particually liked the end of the above article.

Re: SSN Breaking News — Gareth Barry [merged]

I thought Barry was a central midfielder and not a left winger so why he would be placed on the left of midfield is beyond me personally. I thought he done the same job as Nigel De Jong aswell basically but perhaps more effectively at this moment in their respective careers.

I'd be quite happy with this signing. Nice premiership experienced midfielder. Good news if he comes but won't be too dissapointed if he doesn't. Look how the last signing we got from Aston Villa turned out eh?

Re: SSN Breaking News — Gareth Barry [merged]

There is no doubt Barry is a top player, he is an England International. However he isn't the type of player I would have been looking for. If he is coming as a central midfielder I wouldn't put him in before either Kompany, De Jong or Ireland. A left midfielder? Not unless Hughes changes the whole set up of the team and if so I'd prefer Petrov. Left back? I don't think Barry would go for that.
