De Jong is a DM and Ireland plays the more attacking role, we need an Alonso figure that can keep calm and get it out of his feet.

In regards to Villa fans all I can suggest is understand their point of view your captain has said he would only leave to a club that has CL experience and unfortuantely in your case you don't have Europe at all. Rumours on a Liverpool forum are that he has been in negotiations since the middle of May and has been spotted looking at houses in the Manchester area. "3,000,000 mortgage applied for on 15th May by a Midlands based player."

But our team is set up that way for a reason...Johnson hasn't been fit and we don't have a Barry type player. Playing with 2 DM's is not needed. Kompany and De Jong do not have the passing ability for them to both be in the midfield and besides Kompany is a better centre back.

He plays one of the 2 key roles we need in this team. He links defence (of which NDJ and Vinny are part) and attack (Ireland, Robbie, SWP etc).
The other key role is the focal point of our attack.
Barry might improve our set pieces too.

I thought strurridge could still be offered as he is under 24 and technically still under contract to July 1st so any team that signs him before then will have to pay us compo but offering him in part exchange and using the compo fee as the players valuation along with any money offered upfront. Could that be done?

So true. I take it Elano will be out of the team now so Barry can take them. SWP and Ireland can't take corners for shit, so Barry could take them and he could take freekicks aswell, power driving :D

IMO Jay it is set up that way for a reason and that reason is Robinho. I don't think Johnson would have got anywhere near the team even if he was fit. We have 2 DM's so he can play a forward, Robinho and Ireland. I agree that Kompany is a good centre back but I think he is a better midfielder. I would prefer a new centre back or 2 rather than Kompany at the back.
And for the record I'm not saying Barry is shit.
