SSN - Newcastle Ban Joey

i feel a little split on this one.. ordinarily i would agree with everyone... but having listened to some geordies on the radio essentially blaming barton for being relegated i kind of feel he is a scapegoat in all of this..

shearer has laid full blame on barton as if to divert blame from himself.

bartons challenge was no worse than others going around this weekend... but because he has history... he is treated differently. if the challenge had been alonso on barton... a yellow at most would have been given.

i dont like barton... and do feel he is a bad egg...just to make that clear.... but in this instance he is the easy target for geordies to blame, so as to protect their latest mesiah.

this suspension is apparently not linked to the red card it appears he has done something else again!

Wouldn't surprise me if Newcastle are going down this route in an attempt to get his contract terminated. Last thing they want in the Championship is him picking up 60K a week whilst twatting Academy graduates.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there, if they go down, they might be able to have grounds to terminate his contract, as I'm sure Newcastle must have had some kind of conduct clause in Joey's contract due to his past actions.

yes i believe so... but it stems from this. he has apparently had a go at shearer for not defending him and accused him of being tactically inept. a fair shout in my opinion.

No club will touch him again
The sad thing is, I think your wrong, there is always someone that will think they can change him, look at Collymore or dare, I say it our very own Bellemy(admittedly neither quite as bad), but there always seems to be a manager that thinks he can change someone. I guess you only have to look at Dunnie to see someone that has changed(but his head wasn't anywhere near as far gone).
No club in their right mind would touch him, he causes mayhem wherever he goes, he's got injury problems now aswell and he's always suspended. Any club which will pay him £6ok/week to never play a game and cause trouble and bring a bad reputation on their club doesn't deserve to be a pro club. If he is to carry on playing, it will be abroad somewhere, and for a lot less money than what he's on now

Yes Barton has pretty much nothing to do with their league postion having only played 9 times this season, but i'm sure he will be blamed if they do go down.

It was mentioned on Guardian Football Weekly yesterday that it is common for teams such as Hull, WBA etc to have clauses in their players' contracts stipulating huge pay cuts if they are relegated. Apparently Newcastle didn't include such clauses in their players' contracts as they never even entertained the idea that they could be relegated.

Therefore, they need to reduce the wage bill in whatever way they can. And you're right, Joey will definitely have special clauses in his contract governing things like this because of the mess he was in when he joined them.

Sounds like they are now following the letter of the law in suspending him, pending an investigation, before sacking him.

Not sure if anyone has said this yet but.......HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA THANKS JOEY!!

He should bring a book out titled :Joey Barton - How to ruin a career by being a tw*t.

Allegedly, the Toon don't have relegation clauses written into the contracts of their players.

They've got Coloccini, Nolan, Ryan Taylor, Gutierrez, Carroll and Xisco contracted until 2013, Harper, Enrique, Barton, Guthrie, Smith and Ameobi until 2012, and Steven Taylor, Duff and Martins until 2011, for example.

That's a shitload of wages to be dealing with. They'll end up giving them away just to take some wages off the books.

Edit - DB just beat me to it!

How does it work in the EU, I know outside he would have no chance of a visa to work, I mean if he was Italian would you want him coming to our country with all his baggage?
