Stadium Expansion (Confirmed)

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Thanks Kramer ;-) , Eccles Blue, etc.

So.

With the away fans being moved to the 3rd tier as well, does that mean there will be less of them in the 1st and 2nd tiers, fewer blocks, or are the club increasing the away allocation?

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

i hope we dont extend it just yet, it would be embarrassing, we cant fill it at times now!!

I've been to none of these meetings but imagine it's pretty safe to assume the first one there. Thinning them out should make it harder from them to generate a good atmosphere, but we'll have more seats for those who like to sit right next to them and give them stick. I really hope this one goes through myself

Away fans will remain as they are at the moment with the additional segment in third tier. It seems that all stake holders are keen for this to be the case, moving would compromise too many things but most notably exit safety
Well that sounds shit

Like LoveCity I would much prefer the whole of tier one in the south stand to be for city fans, let it be a full dedicated singing and standing end. It would add some much needed atmosphere and colour into the ground imo.

is the first stage of the build for the rugby world cup in 2015 then after that the other end will be built for the 2016 season

we will defo need a 60.000 plus stadium and also we could offer the stadium to uefa for a champions league final
We cant sell out against Bayern why do we need 60K

we don't need to sell out every game utd don't even do that and they cook there books with the police books don't add up

its going to get bigger and bigger on a world stage manchester city will be bringing in more and more fans and not just from Manchester but worldwide

in 5 years we will need a 60.000 stadium and will sell out 85% of games each season also it offers the away fans more tickets too

Whether we sell out all the time or not is unimportant! Let's get out of this pissing match syndrome that views any non capacity match as a failure, as it is simply not the case!

Even if our 60,000 seats only produce a season's average crowd of 54,000 who really gives a fuck!

Certainly any of the extra fans that saw the games won't be moaning nor suicidal!

My issue is still what it was early in this post and that nobody else seems interested in discussing; just how can we get 10-14 year olds attending games independently and at a price they can afford? If we fail to answer this then in years to come the stadium will be empty for sure!
spot on mate, never understood why some people are so hung up over a "full stadium" everyweek ! It must be better to have a big stadium to fill, then a small stadium turning people away !

We don't turn people away

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Amazing that Milan, Inter, Roma, Napoli, Atletico, Barcelona, and Real Madrid's empty seats at pretty much every game get no criticism.

City - a club that went 30+ years without a trophy - average bigger attendances than every single Italian club, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, PSG, Marseille, Porto, Benfica, Galatasaray... and yet we're supposed to feel ashamed of something, even though nearly every 'empty seat' in the Etihad for league games is PAID FOR?

(And yes, all the empty seats at the Etihad do bug me as people who really want to go could be in them, but doesn't change the fact the majority of them are sold - hence, to keep this on-topic, it should not and apparently is not holding back expansion)

If games are sold out which they are then people are being turned away. We won't sell out a 60000 stadium every week , but we will sometimes and our average home gate will go up . Only a guess but I would anticipate an average of over 54000, If we have 2 successful seasons between now and then gates will increase.

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Have to agree.

Great to see the plans to expand the stadium are moving forward, but I have to admit I'm disappointed that the South Stand Lower Tier isn't to be turned into a City end.(I'm sure some People will be happy about that)

It's seems the wishes of City fans polled at the public display and online, and H&S issues regarding away fans entering and exiting the stadium, have won the day. :-(

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

People care far too much about the empty seats thing, doesn't bother me at all, if the club do it right and increase capacity, drop prices throughout, people will fill the seats,I know of at least 20 people that can't afford to come at current prices but guarantee at least 10 of them would come if prices were a bit cheaper.

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

the £299 season ticket price must be of great interest to you mancunians up there!

my season ticket at cardiff is £349 and can pay that over 10 months interest free, so a £299 season ticket to watch Man city wo play tidy football really is the bargain of the century!

i visited the etihad last summer and did a tour of the stadium and i was very impressed with it all but one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is the lack of the 3 tiers all the way around. Once that is done then it will look the dogs dangles!

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

Some people care more about empty seats than others, myself I haven't liked to see empty seats because it could have put our owners off the expansions I've wanted to see, once we get to 60,000 then some empty seats won't bother me.
At the end of the day our owners are successful businessmen who have employed equally successful companies to do feasibility studies into expansion. If they have concluded it's worth them spending their money on the investment into a 60,000 seat stadium chances are they are right.

yes we do

Re: Stadium Expansion excitement!

its pretty shit that there wont be one end full of city fans ( south stand)

I dont think it will make a difference to the atmosphere, it will be like now, just with two more seated tiers.

Yeah, this is my fear if it's going to stay the same too. As long as the singers are separated by up to 3,000 away fans, they will never be on the same page.

yes we do
If we do how is it that the attendance is always different even when the away support is full.
