Stadium Expansion

this is second hand knowledge, but the lad who sits next to me in 201 was at the meeting before the game, and sounds like us, and the two blocks adjacent, are in for a move. going off what he said, they're looking at putting in an American style 'bar/pub section', apparently similar to something the company in charge of planning has done at the dallas cowboys. said they're talking of a price rise of £75 to £100 per game
if this is what's being planned, bit pissed off when I heard the news, but as long as they sort out the moving of those of us who haven't got a chance in hell of paying those prices properly, I don't have a problem

Yes, I don't think we'll ever see cheap League tickets but it should surely mean that we'll be able to offer a range of ticket prices. For Spurs there were a handful of seats at £43 but the vast majority were £51 and that's too much.
that's what I'd do. Make the north end semi-corporate and the south end cheap. Fill it with singers who do gravitate to the cheaper seats anyway.

don't forget those 3rd tier corner seats could be replaced by boxes if they can relocate the 'users of them' to the 'new seating' wherever that ends up - I'm still intrigued to work out how they are going to sort the roof out, the ends must come off, that's the only way it can work as far as I can see

Boro went from 14k to 28k for a game on Friday night with cheap ticket prices

£50 to sit in South Stand is a joke. If City expand the ground, then surely it will mean there will be some cheaper tickets?

If we extend the ground it will be absolutely brilliant news for fans, and basically guarantees the future of this club as one of the top teams in Europe. All we need do is ensure that we are in the top 4 when this happens. And with the age of the current squad that should be possible
It's all about pricing accordingly.

If City had priced these four home games accordingly that we are currently in the middle of (cant remember the last time we had four home games in a row), all of them would have sold out. As it is people can't afford all four so have picked and chosen which. That's why Real Madrid will be a sell out, because it's the biggest club we're playing of the four, and the other three won't be because they aren't as big and overall the price of all four combined is too high to afford in the space of two weeks (people simply can't justify paying for four home games in two weeks).

So at City corporate in the second tiers needs to be priced higher. Season tickets at Bayern München for some corporate areas are €7000. But then they have 12000 season tickets available for about €180 in the cheaper areas of the ground. If City charge the average ticket too highly we won't fill 60000. If they start to put some absolute top quality corporate options in place and then price Level 1 around the ground and behind the goals on all levels realistically, then we'll sell out. Plus cup tickets can be £12.50-18.50 for FA and FL Cups and £22.50-28.50 for CL - apart from in corporate areas - and they'll more than likely sell out 60000.

Hamburg.

I appreciate tickets won't ever be that cheap, but price them right and we will fill the stadium.

If any proof is needed look at the Bundesliga. Even your average teams are pulling 50-60k at home.

I'm sure City have done the maths. They also know our support isn't the wealthiest. There's absolutely no point in adding 10k seats if you don't fill them.
I'm sure City have looked at this and come up with a new pricing formula.(I'm gueesing TBH)

Dortmund averaging over 80,000 in the Bundesliga again this season. Their entire model is enviable and the perfect system I think. Until the bubble bursts on the English game in some way I can't see it ever happening here where basically everyone from the low earners on council estates to prawn sandwich munchers in their boxes are catered to within the same stadium.

No chance we could fill a 60,000 stadium even against United.

Agree, forgot to add "on current prices". No way we would fill it if it continued to be £35, £40.

People are willing to pay the prices for certain games. Look at the seat planner for our glamour friendly against Real Madrid after failing to sell out our previous two CL games! Despite the Real game being more expensive and mostly us playing for pride:

You are talking an extra 13,000 seats though, that is a hell of a jump. We couldn't sell out for our first ever Champions League game.

What's the obsession with selling every seat?

Surely 50+ thousand in a 60 thousand stadium is better than a 47k sell-out?

If there are no tickets left to buy how can we ever get new regular supporters for league games?

Oh and I agree with DD's suggestion about a cheaper "popular" end to help create some atmosphere. Get The Citizens in there eh Dave?

It's not an obsession it's basic economics. Why spend millions extending the stadium by 13,000 seats if in reality only 3,000 will be used for the majority of games? Waste of money.

Seriously.

City must have looked at every scenario and crunched all the figures.

You just have to look at the time and attention spent on the new training complex.
