Stadium Expansion

The first hole was dug yesterday for the start of the build on the new academy complex, i will post some pics soon..
Mystery to me why the club is so quiet on this. It's great PR for the club eg the £13m City are directly investing in the Beswick Leisure Centre and the Sports Medicine Centre etc.

Every time I click on a City news story it's some press hatchet job on Balotelli or some variation on the club in crisis. They may not want to print good news about City, but some decent PR machinery and they'd be more or less forced to. They have newspapers to fill and 24 hour non-stop programmes to churn out. East Manchester redevelopment is a story waiting to be told, you'd think City would be desperate to tell it. Is it operating under a cloak of secrecy for some reason?

No one on this thread has a clue.

some posters have almost become minor celebs by bullshitting but no one can answer your question because no one outside the club knows for sure

Not strictly true. Whilst this thread has attracted the odd bullshitter, most of the crap was on the old Vegas thread.

GXCity knows his onions.

this. i was with a guy the other day who knows far more than most. there is always someone somewhere outside of the club that has info. not all blues are bullshitters.

This is exactly the case.

The club does not have the in house expertise to do any of the work alone, and you certainly do not employ full time employees on the off chance people may talk as this would add millions to the overall cost. The size of companies involved have turnovers that are 10 times + more than what the clubs is. That is what Non Disclosure Agreements are for. They are pretty much signed on all such projects, its just that this one is frustrating as there is so much interest, from such a wide audience. Lets face it you wouldn't have give a shit about the Beetham tower project but everyone was involved years before you ever heard about it and we all signed NDA's. There are Architects, Civil Consultants, Energy Consultants, Mechanical Consultants......the list goes on.

As far as timescales are concerned, that is something that is kept within the club. I am certainly not party to that however, I have heard that the stadium will be finished in 3-4 years. That is the most I know but it would fit in with the acadamy finish date and the staged approach they are taking on the whole campus.

For what it's worth, at a City supporters meeting I attended last week, Paul Lake indicated that we shoud not expect the stadium to be extended for at least five years and that a sufficiently increased fan base would be the deciding factor

thanks for the info but the stadium capacity is restricting the fan base.
Yet not on some midweek cup games it seems

But on PL game it is and thats our bread and butter income. We literally have thousands of Blue Card holders who would love an opportunity of getting to see City live at the Etihad.

build it and they will come. the very fact of it being increased and looking so impressive (along with the academy) will draw people to the ground. and lets not forget the necessary evil that is the tourist glory hunters, their money pays just the same as ours.
