It can't happen unless city buy the stadium. Sports England and mcc have made it clear they won't allow naming rights under current ownership structure.

This has all been covered before and is in the public domain.

I'm sure I read on here that the renegotiated yearly rent allowed us to sell the naming rights.

This is incorrect. City don't want to buy the stadium for very good reasons.

A renegotiation of the lease took place in early January, with consents from all of the above parties.

In return for a naming rights consensus, City will pay £3m a year rent, also currently eradicating the percentage of gate receipts payable over 34,000.

City have over 200 years left on this particular lease, that's a lot of £3m a year, and everybody knows it.

And that's before we add real value in terms of stadium redevelopment and surrounding areas.

Another reason why we have been 'granted' naming rights.

Agreements have been reached with all interested parties to allow us to sell the naming rights.

Re: Stadium Naming Rights

The City of Manchester Stadium Sponsored by Easy Jet

has a certain ring to it.

Re: Stadium Naming Rights

Don't think it would go to a media company - but Sky Stadium has certain ring to it.

Re: Stadium Naming Rights

the stadium has not got a recognised name so to rename it would give a better identity and bring in money.
But I would say sod the money and go for UNICEF
it would raise our profile instantly.
