Not sure why it's us in particular he hates. It's not City's fault Delph left them. Blame the player, not City you despicable ugly twat. If you can't keep personal grievances aside you have no business being a radio presenter.
What's the point going on about Villa being bigger than City? It's like saying Wolves are bigger or Preston or Sunderland the past has long gone. Ask any player in Europe who's the bigger club or any manage.Their European Cup win was getting on for 40 years ago. Still I'm sure he can keep telling himself they are bigger watching them in the Championship next year....I've listened multiple times this year when he has said Villa are a bigger club than us. After we beat the bin dippers at Wembley he went through each team by trophy count as if to enforce that. He's a twat and he does have an issue with us in particular.
I'd invite him for the next game then deny entry on the door.Sat in our ground as well, just listened to his show on way home, felt like ringing him and asking had he been treated well, and that, the ****
Collymore confuses size with success. He also struggles with past and present tense. Many clubs who 'were' big, no longer 'are' big.
In his world Woolworths would still be a big company because of their former success, and VHS would still be a huge video format.
If he said 'all time achievements' then of course, Villa have done incredibly well, but he's not doing that.
I don't blame any fan for looking back or using past success to emphasise the 'history' of a club, but it's folly to use it to definitively measure the 'size' of a club (whatever 'size' really means). It would seem that the vast majority of people using 'size' are referring to brand recognition and fan base.
In this specific instance, Collymore was comparing Villa to Leeds and using Vila's trophy count to hit a specific Leeds fan over the head with. It was as churlish as the Leeds fan taunting him.
Who really cares how big your club is? does it really matter?
Madonna will always be 'bigger' than Bob Dylan, but does it make her a better artist? nah.
Villa HAVE been very good for long periods, they are currently not very good. That's all anybody needs to know.
Only catching up on this thread. Villa have won 1 league title 1 FA Cup and the European Cup in the last 95 years. Their trophy haul consists of a bag full in the 1890's - to consider this an indication of size is ridiculous.
He also struggles with the English language. And BTW, what's this 'Madonna is bigger than Dylan'? Never.Collymore confuses size with success. He also struggles with past and present tense. Many clubs who 'were' big, no longer 'are' big.
