State Pension Increases

We’ve got to do something radical, because our society is falling apart.
Ok Ghandi. :-)

Broadly agree with you on a serious note but I doubt there’s many with the inclination to change much at this point so we’ve gotta ride it out and hope future generations can start the process.
Sadly, the social media generation don’t fill me with much confidence!

And what are you doing to save the world then Ghandi?
Your post is replete with holes.

I do loads of work for free. In percentage terms more than 99% of my profession. That doesn’t make me Ghandi, but explains why my punters love me so much.

My best quality as a person is my generosity.

So in answer to your question, I’m trying to do my bit.

Anything I’ve said on this thread is rooted in me trying to make the world a better place. Just like Ghandi was trying to do.

Was he trying to save it, but I’m not. Why? Because he was famous?

And probably not the best question to ask someone who gets paid two grand a day to argue for a living.

Got any more?

If you want to do something radical look at the plutocratic criminals at the top. For whom a 1.5 million house would be something to put the gardener in. The boss class want us to argue among ourselves like rats in a sack while they sit on assets so vast you can't even imagine it. Billions. Absolute billions. They (in some cases) pay less tax in a year than the low-paid workers they employ.

I'd put a land tax in place - let them try to take their land out of the country.

He might quote acas at you. Be careful.

Is correct. The 1% who hold the majority of the wealth, land and property can start with this redistribution. They won't of course but they will run companies making sure you and I give up our houses and savings, while making even more money for themselves in the process.

That’s an interesting question which I haven’t applied my mind to.

Off the top of my head:

1. A tax on assets that would ordinarily compel people over 70 to dispose of them at a certain point

2. Reducing the state pension linked to those assets on a sliding scale.

3. Massively taxing second homes.

4. Banning people over a certain age from driving so they will need to move to more accessible by public transport, smaller homes.

5. Taxing pension income higher above a certain threshold

Thing is, whatever you do with society, and the tax structure within it, it will be held as unfair by some, because life is unfair, as anyone sleeping rough tonight will attest. It’s surely got to be about a structure that is fair to the most people.

Any the current system plainly isn’t.
Aren’t the Government looking into something about Council Tax with second home owners anyway, irrespective of their age? If you’re wealthy enough to be owning a second home, should you be paying a higher tax, no matter your age, should you not?
At what age would you consider banning driving? Public transport? Do you travel with the great unwashed often? Have you got on a bus at 3pm when school children are leaving school? Especially children about the age 11-16. If not, do try it, it will enlighten you.

In large parts of the UK, there is no public transport. As in none. Even taxis may charge you to come out before they start charging you to ride. Not everyone living in these areas is rich or owns an expensive house.

It is also possible to own a very expensive house in a place with excellent public transport. London springs to mind.

Yes, of course.

I may have been hasty with that one! Just trying to find ways of getting human beings to give up what they feel entitled to. Every **** feels entitled when they get wealthy btw. It’s just human nature.
