State Pension Increases

You're seriously suggesting forcing people people to hand over their homes and money to the state to redistribute??? Really??

Its a Conservative policy called ''social care'' ...... your property is taken from you to fund health care that you've paid for all your life .... and then sold at rockbottom price to cover the costs and the little left (if any) is passed back to the estate

I know ... cos Ive been there.

What this thread has done for my blood pressure today they have nearly had one less fucker to worry about.

In crude terms, yes; absolutely.
Start with the Duke of Westminster then, not the little people.

BTW, we live in a world where the Labour Party - the Labour Party! - dare not even raise income tax by 1p. Good luck getting elected to do anything remotely radical.

Of course someone like that should be taxed more. But that isn’t the end of the problem. The maths dictate so.
Getting elected to tax him and the rest at that level, including the royals, will be challenging enough. I suspect you've got more chance of flying on a broomstick and meeting the ghost of General Custer on Werneth Low.

To expand it to the wider population - no chance! At least, not without a coup as opposed to an election. And a coup in this country is more likely to deliver General Pinochet than Che Guevara.

The first sentence of your post applies to any generation in human history.

And yes, they had their struggles, don’t we all; that is an inherent part of the human condition.

I simply think they could have done more with their good fortune to make our society a better and more equal place to live. And they haven’t.

Does anyone actually think that our society works better than it did 40 years ago? To suggest the main beneficiaries over that period haven’t contributed to that decay simply doesn’t hold water.

Maybe my view is somewhat skewed because I live where I do, but someone in their 70s and 80s does not need to live in a massive house, and I include my parents in that equation. There needs to be a big rethink about wealth distribution in this country.

The problem is human nature. People don’t want to give up what they feel they’ve earned. So they need to be compelled

Sell up your empty house, spend some of your money and stop voting for cunts because they bribe you or you'll die in a poorly staffed care home in your own shit and piss.

I must be imagining my expenditure for the last 4 years then.

A single person, mortgage free household can comfortably get by on £6k a year assuming you're not into foreign holidays, flash cars, having the latest iPhone or pissing your money away in the boozer at every opportunity.
So who’s garage you living in and what food banks do you use.

Lets see shall we....

I live alone and am extremley, extremely frugal with my utilities and i currently pay over 1500/year on gas and electric.
I also live in the cheapest authority for council tax and pay just over 1000/year.
I pay 360/year for internet (so i can read shite like this)
I pay 300/year for water
I own a cheap car outright, drive very few miles, average 55 mpg amd pay approx 1000/year on diesel.
And just under 500 on insurance. This is still cheaper than than using public transport. Not to mention safer.
That would leave me just over 1300 a year and at this point i havent bought food, socialised in any way, purchased xmas or birthday gifts for my closest family, or purchased any clothes, cleaning items for my home, or even a newspaper.
I havent yet paid for an mot, emergency repairs, or tyres for my car. All of which are needed occasionally.
I pay around 300 a year to insure my home and contents so now im down to 1000/ year.

Yeah, itd be easy wouldnt it.
