He needs to balance this by making sure that some of the fringe players also get used to playing his way. Plus if he has doubts about whether we need to make further signings in this transfer window, this game gives him a chance to look at his options eg whether to rely on Kolarov as an emergency centre back

I agree with this but the counter argument will be, the game is a dead rubber so these players will not be tested as normal

I would go with that too. One thing I wouldn't do this season is mess with the defence constantly like Pellers did. I would be tempted to maybe put zinchenko in somewhere.
