Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

And his finishing was TECHNICALLY better than agueros . If you compare his goal with sergios miss at the end, technically :-)

Joking aside, his goals have seriously been brilliant technique to rank alongside pretty much anyone though tbf.

But to me, his close control at pace & in tight spaces, when surrounded by defenders, was the most difficult skill displayed by anyone on the pitch last weekend.

If he continues at this level, (which is of course an 'IF') then when games open up more, he will be above Sane's level from last season & will indeed be the kind of player Real Madrid want to sign. His performances so far are exactly the same as the ones which won Salah p.o.t.y.

And that would mean City should actually pay him as much as our top players.

Day after day i read the same shit on here about how Sterling isn't up to the level of others and finding reasons to knock. Now i see he isn't an elite player. The player who contributed as much as anyone last season in the best team to ever play in the premier league isn't an elite player? ehhhh? How we have the audacity to moan about other fans treatment of Sterling when this thread shows a big section of our own fans can't do anything but knock him down.

He has started this season where he left off last season, scored some superb goals, been extremely dangerous and for me has been one of our best players. Does that mean he deserves to be paid the same as Kev or Aguero? I'm not sure it does, but it does give him the bargaining power to try and get the best deal he can without being slated by his own fans.

Fantastic player. Sure we won't get bent over by any agent nowadays, and it will be on our terms. Hoping he signs a long term deal..

15/16 - 11 goals 10 assists
16/17 - 10 goals 21 assists
17/18 - 23 goals 17 assists

There won't be many players in the world with stats like these, let alone for a Premier League team. Improving all the time under Pep

I actually think there is something in this - I don't know how else this can be explained other than there is something about him that some people do not like (our own fan base inciuded).........

For clarity, I do not believe it to be an issue of race - how much do we all love the Goat, SWP and Vincent etc?

I agree pal, i don't know why but people just cannot take to him. He could score 50 goals this season and people will still find a reason to beat him down.

I have not viewed every post on this thread but have not noticed anything personal or derogatory about Sterling, just comments re his merits as a footballer which is normal discussion on a football forum. What comments are you referring too?

I dont get the impression city fans dislike Sterling at all, most appear to want him to stay, but not at the reported figures Sterling wants which is consistent with the views of the club, which is why there is an impasse.

History also tells us that City are good payers, look after there players and most negotiations go more smoothly and so rightly or wrongly fans the likelihood is Sterling is already being offered a decent pay rise but is still holding out for more.

Rather than say he is being criticised unfairly I woud argue its only in the rarefied world of football, and playing for City, would an individual receive so little criticism because if he was a politician/bbc executive/ banker getting a bonus etc he would be heavily criticised on here for demanding more money on top of his already fantastic wage.

I think its naive to think that the amount of people who don't like and don't rate Sterling on here and in the wider football world is purely football related. I'm not saying its racism, but for whatever reason (the media, Sterling himself - i'm not really sure), people just cannot take to him and that includes a large chunk of our own fans.

I can accept the wider world but what comments make you think that on here and particularly by large chunks of our fanbase?

With the exception of one or two pretty much everyone wants him to stay just, like the club, at a slight variation to the wage offered to KDB/Aguero etc.

I dont think its naive I just want examples of evidence large chunks of our fanbase do not like him. Its not the feeling I get at matches or on here.

Week in week out I have read criticism of players on here be it Gundogan, Bravo, Stones, Otamendi, Sane even Aguero and I do not see Sterlings treatment on the forum as any worse or any different with the exception of one poster possibly.
