good to hear. It's sounding much more positive :)
We might even be past the posturing stage.

I don't particularly want to go back through numerous threads from right across the summer to pick out posts, but it certainly feels to me like there was plenty of uncalled for criticism of him. That ranged from his performances at the WC, his contract negotiations now where i have seen many posts saying he is greedy, he isn't good enough, showing his true colours etc. All this criticism when no one even knows the facts of his contract negotiations and where it is currently at.I can accept the wider world but what comments make you think that on here and particularly by large chunks of our fanbase?
With the exception of one or two pretty much everyone wants him to stay just, like the club, at a slight variation to the wage offered to KDB/Aguero etc.
I dont think its naive I just want examples of evidence large chunks of our fanbase do not like him. Its not the feeling I get at matches or on here.
Week in week out I have read criticism of players on here be it Gundogan, Bravo, Stones, Otamendi, Sane even Aguero and I do not see Sterlings treatment on the forum as any worse or any different with the exception of one poster possibly.
He is world class. No need for a mirror.I'm not his biggest fan, never have been,as plenty know on here, but would I like him to stay....yes
Would I be arsed if he left......no
However, the point of this thread is nothing to do with actual performances week in week out,it's about him (allegedly) wanting pay on a par with some of our world class players we are blessed to have.
If you can look yourself in the mirror and convince yourself that Sterling IS world class, then you have every right to argue he should be paid what he wants, but the other side of the fence,me and countless others, don't believe he is,and therefore shouldn't be.
From a business side of things, the time to sell is now,if that's what it comes to,because once his pace has gone,he's finished.
That is what I've been saying all along about him really, but we do have other and arguably better options available to us now as well, which again, some seem to disagree with.

In fairness to Chicago who disputed to me whether Sterling elite, in all honesty he is probably right, sterling ain't quite hazard or Suarez even, but fuck me he ain't far behind. In a year or two as he continues to develop, possibly much more of us blues will realise just how good this kid is and and lucky we are to have him. Me personally whilst I don't think there is anything wrong with him technically, I acknowledge that Bernardo is arguably better than him from a technical point of view. But this does not mean that sterling is any slouch in this regard. Where sterling excels for me probably more than most others in the team is his intelligence. When to go when to stay. If you watch the position s he picks up on the field he is at times impossible to mark and moreover the space he creates for Silva, debruyne etc is criminally overlooked. Top player and will get better.Day after day i read the same shit on here about how Sterling isn't up to the level of others and finding reasons to knock. Now i see he isn't an elite player. The player who contributed as much as anyone last season in the best team to ever play in the premier league isn't an elite player? ehhhh? How we have the audacity to moan about other fans treatment of Sterling when this thread shows a big section of our own fans can't do anything but knock him down.
He has started this season where he left off last season, scored some superb goals, been extremely dangerous and for me has been one of our best players. Does that mean he deserves to be paid the same as Kev or Aguero? I'm not sure it does, but it does give him the bargaining power to try and get the best deal he can without being slated by his own fans.
Fingers crossed and based TH's post maybe its closer to resolution than we realised.Fair enough willipp I was more curious than anything rather than trying to question your opinion, as we all read situations differently.
Personally I hope the situation gets resolved, Sterling stays, but at a payscale suitable for his qualites not because he is homegrown or the club feels backed into a corner with the contract situation. Failing this get the best price for him we can.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Quick guys, better sell this 23 year old ASAP before his legs go.
Even if you're stupid enough to think his only asset is pace, thinking a pace merchant needs to be sold at 23 before his pace is gone is beyond stupid.
