Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

For you the England team means nothing - your sentiment isn't universal.

For City, yes, he absolutely lacks a bit of confidence. He still tends to pass rather than shoot when shooting is the better option.
Universal amongst city and england fans yes it is,the rest i give up as you are clearly not watching how we play or as usual not listening just repeating,i'm out

So I'm to understand that you and - moreover - universally - all/most? England natives - do not care for the national squad - according to you?

With respect, I don't see this at all.

England has a resurgent international squad - and while not yet among the top 3 or so sides, it's getting better and better.

Most City fans that I know (and rags) couldn't give a fuck about the England national team.
Perhaps. But that's too bad - as your international side has a lot of talent and even more talent coming up in the near future. Too, the England national squad performed admirably in the WC, enhancing my - and the word's - enjoyment of the game.

Content abuse of your players by the media and Wycombe Wanderers fans tends to that. The national team is for southerners and fans of lower league teams.

WRT Messi - Messi is the best player in the world over the past decade bar none. But his skillset is enhanced by intricate 1-2 passing - which is diminished in the Argentinian squad.

Ronaldo - well, he's an amazing individual - repeat individual. He's not a team player.

Ronaldo isn't quite in the same boat as Ibra (amazing individual but probably a net minus for any side in which he plays) - Ronaldo is a likely a net plus, but he's a total prick and likely causes those around him to perform at non-optimal levels.

In the case of Sterling - it's entirely different.
Would you care to expand on that?

Yep , can't speak for all, but plenty I know would not care a toss about England, especially compared to our one love.

For me, Sterling's main problem in his International squad is that his manager doesn't seem to trust him. This accompanied by a little lack of self-confidence leads to OK - but nowhere near his potential - performance.

In our squad, Pep works to build Sterling's confidence - he trusts Sterling - and Sterling delivers.

Yet, even in our squad, there seems to be a bit of something that is off - holding him back - for me - that tiny little bit - is - well, if you want to term it otherwise - lack of arrogance. Sterling needs to believe that he's the best play on the pitch - that he needs to have the ball - that when he has the ball he's absolutely going to score - unless some sort of clear passing opportunity presents itself.

I don't know if you've participated in high level sports or not - I was on the edge of doing so - I can only tell you that confidence is enormously valuable.

Again - calm down.

I honestly think that Sterling is on the cusp of Balon Dior consideration.

Holding him back - for me is simply confidence. Less so on our side for sure. But performances in the national side too count for that.

Southgate doesn't trust Sterling as much as does Pep it seems.

If you think that Sterling's current play is perfect - the best he could achieve - well then, I respectfully disagree with you - Sterling has it in him to increase his game even more.

And it's not innate ability that's holding him back - it's lack of confidence.

You are aware repeatingly saying calm down is very patronising and tbf who gives a shit about the balon D'or
Secondly no player is perfect and always has room for improvement, but at this present time Sterling is the best English player in the league, that hardly smacks of a lack of confidence.
As for his form for england, he was great in the world cup and the only fuckwits showing no confidence in him were the tosspot media and dense fans believing the shit said media wrote.

Pep has built a team not individuals, you could say the same about passing not shooting about all the midfield and attack bar sergio, they all look to play it to their teammates rather than random shooting for the sake of it.
