Sterling and the hate he gets

This hate is not only against Sterling per se. It's also against the English team as a whole. If the same Penalty was awarded on the other side to Denmark with the same circumstances, there would have been ZERO outcry!

Sterling did what every other player in the box would have done and as I said any other player from any other team would have gone down and I am sure no outcry would have happened!

No one wants England to win and everyone thinks the players are all actors and pre-madonnas. This might be a golden era for England with some of the best players the Premier League has ever produced. It's their time to shine and win. Reaching the final is a great first step. Let nothing take that away from them.

Italy were average against Spain and they were lucky to progress through Penalties but when I say that everyone says no way, Italy were superior???!!!

England were arms and legs above Denmark in the game and deserved to win it but noooooo everyone would say Denmark was Robbed. Double standards!!!

Definitely not a natural finisher, he's improved but still room for improvement
I'm not destroying the man, I'm offering constructive criticism / analysis of his ability, his ceiling is higher than almost all others.

The money he signed for shouldn't matter and doesn't imho
I prefer him and always have to Leroy
I agree his achievements are fantastic, I just want more from and for him, as I'm sure he does knowing how much of a driven character he is.
We'll always disagree on the diving, I'm very much club over country and anything I see having detrimental affect on his City performances/ referee decisions I will flag and won't be bullied out of my opinion
The most important thing is he wants more from himself.

That's the difference between great players and good players, the hunger and desire.

As you rightly say he is better than Leroy, not in natural ability, but hunger, desire and the passion to be even better year in year out.

You would take Leroy’s technical ability with the ball over Raheem but in every other aspect Raheem is miles better, his movement desire and attitude pisses all over Sane, he can frustrate me like no other player but he never hides.

It was a dive by the way it’s just in football people are trying to redefine what a dive is. Every player does it nowadays some more often than others and more obvious as well.

It’s an impossible task a lot of times for refs and as supporters if it’s given against you the more ‘soft’ it will be.

I really hope he has a great game. Not just for the nation but for himself. He was not at his best last season but has a shown a wonderful strength of character to remain focused and back his own ability. Boo me now, Fuckers.
Actually that BBC item is not too bad despite mostly endorsed by Pool players giving a false impression of their part in the disgusting media attack on him.

I think its a great article, one of the first to really call out the reasons he left Liverpool and almost putting the blame for FSG's character assassination at the door of Rodgers and Gerrard and the like where it belongs.

Sterling and the hate he gets

That was the OP, followed by 20 odd pages of arguing over diving, then some of the usual nonsense about him being really shit last season and not good enough, cant finish blah blah blah blah fucking blah

He gets hate because he is not the stereotypical Englishman who would be perfectly acceptable if he had gone to a good school and was from a middle class family

"A Daily Mail reader has been left furious today after selfish black player Raheem Sterling DIDN’T give his shirt to an England fan in the crowd"

The likes of the above statement would never be aimed at Harry Kane, it was not about the shirt, it was having a go at Raheem. Just like reporting him having breakfast at Mcdonalds, buying his mum a house, his tattoo, and numerous other things over the years the media have used to castigate him for.

Why do they do this is the question?

There are a number of factors, one is jealousy, in todays society people do not like others having more than them. So Raheem earning wages through a meritocratic manner befitting his status as one of England's and the PLs finest players is ridiculed and he receives a characterisation of being a King of Bling. Because obviously a working class Black kid doing well, would not invest or use his money wisely, he would waste it on bling because that is what rappers do in the mind of subconscious racists. A white middle class footballer would never have the same accusations or characterisations made of him, because he would be portrayed as being sensible and using his money wisely and investing in his future.

There is also without doubt racism aimed at Raheem, anybody who has been away to Burnley or many other grounds and seen the shocking vitriol aimed at him will know that is the case. It may not be as bad as the days when bananas were thrown at John Barnes, or Cyril Regis got monkey chants, but it still exists and it sickens me.

He will also be getting hate from certain sections of the media and the commentariat because he has stood up to the racist bullies and spoke with an eloquence many of them are incapable off. They see him and Marcus Rashford as getting above their station and they try and negate their voices by the crass use of "footballers and politics should not mix"

Then there is the BLM taking the knee stance which again has raised the hackles of certain elements of English society shown by one Tory MP boycotting the tournament. This stupidity fans flames against the likes of Raheem, because do any of you on here really think Raheem goes to bed each night and reads Das Kapital by Karl Marx. Does he fuck he probably plays on the X-BOX with his kids because he is a normal lad away from the football pitch.

Of course there is the leaving of Liverpool as well, although that I think has now died down. He left according to media because he was a mercenary, portrayed as thinking only about money. Yet he stated he left Liverpool to win trophies and he has won plenty which has proved those sycophantic pricks who wallow in Liverpool based history and legend are left looking like the idiots they are,

The way to stop this hate, is fighting against it, speak out against it and perform where it matters most and Raheem has done that and now the hypocrites are lauding him, but if the hypocrites are lauding him it is an improvement on the stupidity of the England fans who boo the players before games.

I love it know that Raheem is becoming an icon, he is the player kids in the playground will want to be, he is breaking down barriers and confronting the half witted thinking of yesteryear and showing that even a poor kid from a family background that is full of tragedy can become what he has become. He is a shining light to many kids now and he deserves to be.

As Blues we should be proud as fuck of the lad, yes he had a dip in form last season, every player does at some point, but he still helped City win the league and will now hopefully help England become European champions and ram it right down the throats of all those who have been cunts to him over the years.
