Sterling and the hate he gets

That was the OP, followed by 20 odd pages of arguing over diving, then some of the usual nonsense about him being really shit last season and not good enough, cant finish blah blah blah blah fucking blah

He gets hate because he is not the stereotypical Englishman who would be perfectly acceptable if he had gone to a good school and was from a middle class family

"A Daily Mail reader has been left furious today after selfish black player Raheem Sterling DIDN’T give his shirt to an England fan in the crowd"

The likes of the above statement would never be aimed at Harry Kane, it was not about the shirt, it was having a go at Raheem. Just like reporting him having breakfast at Mcdonalds, buying his mum a house, his tattoo, and numerous other things over the years the media have used to castigate him for.

Why do they do this is the question?

There are a number of factors, one is jealousy, in todays society people do not like others having more than them. So Raheem earning wages through a meritocratic manner befitting his status as one of England's and the PLs finest players is ridiculed and he receives a characterisation of being a King of Bling. Because obviously a working class Black kid doing well, would not invest or use his money wisely, he would waste it on bling because that is what rappers do in the mind of subconscious racists. A white middle class footballer would never have the same accusations or characterisations made of him, because he would be portrayed as being sensible and using his money wisely and investing in his future.

There is also without doubt racism aimed at Raheem, anybody who has been away to Burnley or many other grounds and seen the shocking vitriol aimed at him will know that is the case. It may not be as bad as the days when bananas were thrown at John Barnes, or Cyril Regis got monkey chants, but it still exists and it sickens me.

He will also be getting hate from certain sections of the media and the commentariat because he has stood up to the racist bullies and spoke with an eloquence many of them are incapable off. They see him and Marcus Rashford as getting above their station and they try and negate their voices by the crass use of "footballers and politics should not mix"

Then there is the BLM taking the knee stance which again has raised the hackles of certain elements of English society shown by one Tory MP boycotting the tournament. This stupidity fans flames against the likes of Raheem, because do any of you on here really think Raheem goes to bed each night and reads Das Kapital by Karl Marx. Does he fuck he probably plays on the X-BOX with his kids because he is a normal lad away from the football pitch.

Of course there is the leaving of Liverpool as well, although that I think has now died down. He left according to media because he was a mercenary, portrayed as thinking only about money. Yet he stated he left Liverpool to win trophies and he has won plenty which has proved those sycophantic pricks who wallow in Liverpool based history and legend are left looking like the idiots they are,

The way to stop this hate, is fighting against it, speak out against it and perform where it matters most and Raheem has done that and now the hypocrites are lauding him, but if the hypocrites are lauding him it is an improvement on the stupidity of the England fans who boo the players before games.

I love it know that Raheem is becoming an icon, he is the player kids in the playground will want to be, he is breaking down barriers and confronting the half witted thinking of yesteryear and showing that even a poor kid from a family background that is full of tragedy can become what he has become. He is a shining light to many kids now and he deserves to be.

As Blues we should be proud as fuck of the lad, yes he had a dip in form last season, every player does at some point, but he still helped City win the league and will now hopefully help England become European champions and ram it right down the throats of all those who have been cunts to him over the years.
I onestly think that the Liverpool thing hasn't died down.
Maybe in the media but not with the normal Liverpool fans. Yes I know they are not normal

Absolutely, his assist and goal return is good but it could and should be incredible. He's registering a goal every third game and an assist every 6th game in a City team which averages between 3 and 4 goals per game in all competitions. It could and should be much higher, I'm not criticising him I'm saying he has the potential for much more.
We as a fan base need to stop being so touchy when discussing Raheem, he's brilliant but could be better, that's not slagging him, that's the reality
For someone, who’s not criticising Raheem, you’re doing a hell of a lot of it.

In additional to external criticism, he's has suffered more than his fair share of opprobrium from City fans on this website, some it quite nasty. Regardless of any drop in performance his desire and effort seem undiminished and, as he has most eloquently demonstrated over the Euro's, he is most definitely a world class player.

And Burnley
I was in with the Burnley fans that day (I'd missed my slot to buy the tickets). Horrible experience listening to them slag off Sterling. A lot of it was pure racism, something you don't often hear in stadiums these days.

But it was going on all over the country. What possible reason was there for West Brom fans to boo him?
