Fair play to Sterling for coming out and pointing the finger at the media. He’s absolutely rigt too. The serial racism he’s been subjected to is disgusting.

And the lads got nothing to lose - they criticise and put a negative spin on whatever he does. So he probably sees no downside to pointing the finger.

Late to the thread so apologies if already said. This is not only a race issue but a sustained attempt at destroying a young guys life driven by the pro Liverpool press mainly orchestrated by the sun in an attempt to curry favour with them. To see young Burnley fans giving him the finger shows how deep the crusade has gained traction with the national mind set. Those who have been part of this need to take a long hard look at their actions.

The abuse he got at Burnley a few years back was the worst I have seen for any player after watching games for 50 years plus. When they sang "you let your country down" it felt racist to me. It wasn't much better when he returned to Anfield for the first time, mind you it was all you can expect from Liverpool thugs.
The coverage in the tabloids which has relentlessly mocked him for his alleged blingy lifestyle, his tattoos, and his family's lifestyle has played on the worst possible racial stereotypes. Papers like the Sun know which buttons to push to get a reaction. It's ironic that Liverpool fans of all people should provide fuel to a tabloid media which tried to destroy their own reputation for decades.

Your post sums it up ric,shocking treatment of a young talented player who has been lambasted by sections of the media since he left Liverpool and has steadily got worse,in my honest opinion I don’t think it will stop,and the knuckle draggers in this society fuelled by the media will continue to attack Raheem.

I do not think it is particularly Important if the Chelsea fans are sanctioned or banned. It is more pertinent that the Whole Sterling media issue is highlighted and certain media outlets highlighted.
There is a minority of racist idiots at every club, those media outlets that fuel this as Raheem has pointed out need to be nailed now.
