Sterling racially abused by Chelsea fan?

Have the club or the PFA - or any of our other players - ever made official statements backing Sterling over this? Sanctions for journalists? Investigations into editorial staff at certain newspapers?
Maybe he didn’t want them to. I don’t know the answer btw, just not descending into speculation as to the reason behind it. You, on the other hand, have clearly made your mind up.

Considering the subject at hand is one of our players suffering racist abuse, I think that's fair enough?

Not really. If people want to discuss racism in an abstract manner and it's history they should take it to off-topic - where I'd give in 20 mins until the thread is pulled.

We all did because the world is more complicated than racists are all bad people. Trautmann was a young Nazi. He grew up and was educated by experience.
That is a very good point and probably something I overlook a lot of the time but it is educational and sometimes circumstantial.........

We move with the times and when certain words / references are declared as inappropriate or hurtful, then we remove it from our vocab

That old bricktop wannabe needs his teeth smashing out, Sterling is one of the most mentally tough athletes in sport.

I've read agitation propaganda like this all my life, this is so obvious it's a joke, a call to violent action! "A swift fist to the jaw" It's the only thing they understand!! This crap used to be directed at the lumpenproletariat, it's directed at football fans now? Mr 24 posts joined in November?

You're not interested in a debate pal and don't come in here pretending otherwise.
I'm very much interested in a debate with people like yourself who hate racism but disagree with me on how to tackle it. All I've done in this thread is express my support for Sterling and my anger towards the racists and the people responsible for creating events that lead up to this incident, before moving on to say that the system we have in place to deal with racism and fascism is not only insufficient to police them but actually enables their actions. Until the system can be broken down and reset, we can't let racists continue to exploit its deficiencies in the ways they currently do. Debating them in the hope that you can outsmart them, as far as I'm concerned, is a tactic used by people who believe in the system. You might be able to outsmart your average bigot in an acute case like the one at Stamford Bridge yesterday, but you can't outsmart people like Farage and Trump, newspapers like The Mail, or the subconscious racism of the middle class - we're seemingly frightened of seriously confronting racism of it's not brandishing a swastika because anything less extreme than Nazism is apparently still "open for debate". It's bullshit.

Yeh we should have collectively forced them from the game a long time ago..........
Absolutely, shameful, disgusting, lying ****s. No fan of the red dippers but the accusations made in that paper were unforgivable and more than likely set the process of figuring out what actually happened, where the blame needed to lie and what changes needed to be made back by a couple of decades, causing the families involved so much pain.

Funny how those in charge want to focus on FFP and money, yet the more serious issue of racism in football in Europe including our own country just gets brushed under the carpet.
