Stevan Jovetic

Isco has become ridiculously overrated on this forum since the U21 Euro's. He's a good player with huge potential, but at this moment in time Jovetic is at the very least on par with Isco. A young talented player who can score and create, and also has a ton of potential to go on and be one of the best. Very very good ball control, an accurate passer with great vision, not afraid to shoot from distance. He'll fit in with our squad and is exactly what we need right now. We should all be excited about this one if it happens.

Absolutely not, I think the U21 did to Isco what the confederations cup did to Neymar, confirm the hype. Without taking anything from Jovetic, Jovetic is not Isco's level. No way.

Having watched quite a decent amount of both of them I'd have to say jovetic is better, no question about it. Don't get me wrong isco is a great player but this is getting me excited

Their situations aren't exactly similar though, are they? Isco was playing against 20 year olds and Neymar was making fools out of top professionals. Isco may very well go on to become the better player, but make no mistake, Jovetic would not be a step down.

We needed a replacement for tevez, no matter what people think we can't just get anyone we want, IMHO jovetic would be one of the best transfers of this window if we got him, you heard it here first

Ok, don't worry I'll note that.

However here's my take. We don't need a replacement for Tevez, aguero was brought in because we assumed Tevez was leaving and Aguero was going to serve as his replacement. That Aguero can do. We need a real goalscoring striker and it seems that we are looking for a attacking mid which I assume Jovetic is going to fill. I don't think he can do well on the wings.

If Manchester City fans aren't excited about target Stevan Jovetic, they should see the players he’s likened to.

Some Italian pundits compare the Fiorentina pearl to Roberto Baggio for his poise and mastery of the ball.

Others claim the 23-year-old is like Gianfranco Zola, because he operates closer to the goal than the divine Ponytail did.

No one disputes his class.

Jo-Jo, as he is known in Italy, grew up an Andriy Shevchenko fan, and can play striker, behind a centre-forward, on either flank or midfield. Impeccable technique, finishing, range of passing and fine vision underpin his flexibility.

Primarily right-footed, defenders should refrain from showing him onto his ‘weak’ boot. There isn’t one.

And if that sounds too good to be true, Jo-Jo is a pacy, sinuous dribbler, despite being a shade over six feet tall.

At first club Partizan Belgrade, when he sported an unsettling Brian May haircut, Jovetic thrived as a right-sided centre-forward.

Partizan were so impressed they made 18-year-old Jovetic skipper when club captain Antonio Rukavina left for Borussia Dortmund in January 2008. Within five months Fiorentina paid around £5.3m for the remarkable teenager.

Calcio brought out the best in the Titograd-born thoroughbred.

He bulked up thanks to tireless gym work and developed his tactical awareness.

His link-up play and assists improved.

At the time, Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli (now Italy boss) said: “I see him as an attacking midfielder who can play up front when needed.”

A serious knee injury in pre-season training cost him the entire 2010-11 campaign. But the Montenegrin showed mental resolve to come back the next season and score 14 goals from 27 league matches.

Another 13 goals in 31 Serie A games last season proved he has recovered and lost none of his sparkle.

“I like to play as an attacking midfielder, I like space and a lot of the ball,” says the starlet.

Jovetic played in several roles for Fiorentina last season, including second striker, centrally in an attacking trident and on the right wing.

The ability to switch with teammates, create from out wide, profit from flick-ons and time runs into the box would make him a valuable commodity at City.

He has been a senior international since 2007, scoring 10 goals in 26 matches for Montenegro.

Jovetic played behind striker Mirko Vucinic, another of his idols, in England’s 1-1 draw in Podgorica in March this year.

Nothing fazes this precocious talent. Big transfers, serious injuries, captain’s armbands: Jo-Jo has packed the lot into his career so far.

Former Serbia and Montenegro and AC Milan magician Dejan Savicevic says: “Stevan is skilful, he’s full of running, he’s powerful, shooting comes naturally, he’s inventive and can beat a man. Jovetic is world-class.”

Jo-Jo has the skill to light up the Premier League, and the resilience to cope with the physicality of English football.

And, thankfully, he got rid of that trademark Brian May poodle scare-cut years ago

ye he was a replacement, back when we also had Balo. Every team needs 3 quality strikers IMO and I would say guidetti counts yet

It would be nice if he could play on the left side as right now we only have Nasri which isn't enough.

So instaed of spending 50 on cavani we can get both Alvaro Negredo and Jovetic which is quite good deal..

Don't think we need both personally. Just Jovetic I think will do the trick.

We will be snubbed because unless Dzeko goes, we aren't going to sign Jovetic and Negredo. It's a case of City covering their bases I think

Suspect people are fllapping about Jovetic because, in all honesty, they've never heard of him.

Quality soccer print media - World Soccer for instance - have been on to him since he moved to the Viola.

Wonderful player who seems to offer huge attacking variety.

Aguero, Dzeko, Negredo, Jovetic would be the best strike force we have had in recent years.

not even close.

So what is better then?

Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli?

Put it this way, i would rather have Negredo and Jovetic over Tevez and Balotelli. Tevez was a sulker and he rarely played in the title winning season and as for Balotelli... well... he has got to be the most overrated footballer i have EVER seen at Manchester City. He was non existent. Sulked all the time, lazy, not strong enough, greedy, poor team player... i would honestly we had had Andy Carroll on loan. Would of been much better for us.

Jovetic pisses all over Balotelli and Negredo would work hard for the team. Tevez was a great player, but he was a big ego, a loose cannon. On the pitch he gave his all, but off the pitch he was a problem. We need a good harmony amongst the squad, not a bunch of egos who either cannot be arsed, get sent off all the time or bring us bad press every 5 minutes.

Hard to get excited by a striker who will get half a dozen goals a season

Was Zola and Bergkamp renound for scoring goals?

That's a very good post, I didn't think it was possible to write such a complete and utter loads of bollocks in a single post. Beats any of mine by some distance .
