Steve Coppell

Just listened to the Francis Lee interview on the 'Official Man City Podcast' - he says he offered Coppell 'some compensation' but that he refused to accept it.
Yes it could easily have cost City £30 possibly £50k for s short period of failure. Coppell had the decency to refuse.

I always found it strange that the Coppell rumours surfaced in the same month as the Arsene Wenger rumours, and similarly suspicious that I was informed of both rumours by the same Manchester United supporting work colleague, who had just come off the phone to one of his rag mates.

It was, we won 2 out of 12 PL games from late September until he was sacked on Dec 19th.

He was sacked in December 2009, that's the previous season.

My bad, sorry Mark.

Should have been sacked for that run a year earlier, but the run before he was sacked was nearly as bad, ironically sacked after a win.

7 draws on the trot (including 5 of the final bottom 7), a win, another draw, then a defeat, followed by beating Sunderland 4-3.

Hughesless.

Interesting. I was at the game at Swindon, what a crap day that was.

Been transferring Videos to DVDs over a number of months and in my collection have recorded features from when Coppell starts to when he resigns. The change in him is shocking.

Always loved Franny but to call Coppell into the press conference when he was clearly ill feels very wrong looking back. In a later feature I recorded at the time its noticeable that Lee did not attend the press conference for his own resignation.
