stockport county

And there still are plenty of blues with a soft spot for County. If fact I have more than a soft spot, I really like the club and have been down to EP loads of times and made the odd away match, and I know quite a few other blues that do the same.

For almost their entire existence, County had been 2-3 divisions below us, every other week they saw coach loads of people from their town getting on coaches to go and watch City away, and it must have really naffed them off. Then, all of a sudden they were on level playing terms, and even for one season, a level above, and they took the pi55. Now be honest, wouldn't you. I remember that night Hardiker scored the last minute winner at EP, and yes I was cheesed off, but what the hell, we were on our way to winning the 2nd tier by a country mile, whilst County were on their way down to the 3rd with a whimper, probably never to return. They loved it, and for a little while longer were in our faces. A bit of banter that got unfortunately got out of hand.

I've moved on, and now love both clubs. Ok, I'm in a small minority of people that can do that, but I really wish supporters of both side would bury the hatchet. Will it happen? I doubt it very much, but I live in hope. There is only one enemy for me, and let's hope we go one better and put seven past them tomorrow night. :)

Well said nigctid, my sentiments entirely. The bile spouted in many of the previous posts has been really sad for me. They'll always be my 2nd team to care about and it's only because the old no.16 bus to Stockport started in Chorlton and they played on Friday nights. I remember a good season being avoiding re-election. Brendan Elwood selling out to Brian Kennedy has proved a disaster, but with their loyal support it'll turn around, they'll be back in the football league one day.

It is a shame as I remember stuff like when they played Everton in the cup one night at Edgeley (76?) and loads of blues (and reds I'm afraid) turned up to....er...help out.

City fans had a soft spot for County back then.
I was at that game too. It was an early round of the League Cup in September '76. The ground was packed and the published gate was 14,000. All the Everton fans were accomodated in the old sunken terrace in front of the main stand. Lost 1-0 and the goalie Holbrook was at fault for it.

Simple really where the animosity stems from..the behaviour of their fans in the late 90s most of whom seem to be closet reds, hope Tesco build on Edgeley Park. We have never had any problems with other local clubs, Rochdale, Bury, Oldham etc only 'Tinpot'.

There might have been a few mindless idiots about in them days, but every club has them. Stockport is a hotbed for City fans whereas the other areas you mentioned aren't - not to the same level anyway. Perhaps that is why their is such animosity between the two sets of supporters. With the amount of history behind County and EP it would be a crying shame to see them go, and who wants to see yet another supermarket, haven't we got enough already? It isn't all about winning, and as City fans, we should know more about that than most of the big clubs.

I dont think stockport is a shit hole, maybe the town centre, but areas like cheadle, cheadle hulme, bramhall, wimslow, hazel grove, poynton are very nice areas. overall i would rather live in stockport than manchester :)

having lived in both

Stockport is a shit hole, some places with their own name out in the wilderness might be nice but stockport in itself is the genital wart that leeches on Manchester, even the rest of the country takes the piss out of Stockport for being shit.

shut up you fucking city scum

Still a classy bunch after all these years.

County fans site seem to enjoy all the attention We are giving them on here
