Stoke away post match thread

Sounds like we were rubbish today. What I find worrying is that there appears to be periodically during every season, games where you just 'know' or feel City are not going to turn up - Stoke away is certainly always one of them but by no means the only one... Its embarrassing and fans are right to expect something better. I think the management and coaching are to blame, but the players - who have cost hugh amounts and who do earn hugh amounts, are also very much at fault. We have not been at 'the races' in many games this season and have almost been sat at the top of the table by default... I cannot understand how the players we have can be so poor so often and Peller's excusing it as players being "tired" is hogwash and lame. We come across as toothless and without fighting spirit and we have seen it too often for it to be brushed off as just being "a bad day at the office" blah blah! Not sure what the answer is and the owners will probably stick with the manager to the end of the season, but if we end as champions, it will be because the league is bloody poor, because too often we certainly are!

I might be the first to say this but Stoke where excellent and its only right to say they battered us and deserved possibly more than a 2-0 scoreline.

You're not the first, but that's ok. They were great. They had a plan, and everything each player did had a purpose. It gave them confidence and before long they were expressing themselves in the way only football allows. Speed of thought, strength, skill, mutual understanding and creativity. Fantastic.

It's only a shame that their plan was the same as everyone else who's beaten us this season. Exactly the same. We don't have answers. The players are banging their head against a brick wall, things are starting to fray, heads are going down, belief is being whittled away.

They didn't "batter" us as such, what they did was hit us very effectively on the break...that's how they got their 2 goals and they should have had more, again from quick breaks. We had plenty of the ball but did little with it...except pass it to them, like KDB did for their first goal..and Sterling got blown off the ball just before their 2nd goal, in many respects we were the architects of our own downfall, they didn't have to be excellent to beat us.

Just got back, had a few scoops admitadly, but seriously what the fuck did I watch out there today??, that was as bad as it gets, we seem to be having more and more bad day at the office this season, we are flattering to deceive, how the fuck we are in the top 4 is baffling, we are average at best under pellegrini, get rid before we derail completely

Their forward play and interchanges where a joy to watch at times and almost "City" like when we are in our pomp.

We got battered as possession for the sake of it wins you fuck all.

We were no different today than we have been for the past few months. It's just teams know exactly how to counter it now. Absolutely clueless both going forward and defending. Much like Liverpool, Stoke didn't even need to put in a particularly great display it was just a solid workmen like display that exploited our glaring weaknesses and they thoroughly deserved it. Their fans were singing "we're taking the piss" and "you;re fucking shit" we had no comeback because they were absolutely right.

First time today that negativity towards our manager was vocalised in the stands and it's about time. Both when he took off Fernandinho and at the final whistle the fans let him know what they thought of his non-existent tactics. The guy is holding us back hugely and will only continue to do so whilst he remains manager.

Poor show from the players when only Hart and Kolarov bother clapping at the end. I know we got beat and the fans weren't happy but they're paid millions to take a bit of stick, it's not even as if they had to go out of their way to come over to us they all had to walk right past us as they went down the tunnel. A token clap to just acknowledge the fans and show they are hurting too would suffice.

Bony was not in the same wavelength with our midfield. How many times have we seen him slow down our play with holding the ball and losing the opportunity. He just doesn't fit our system and looks the least likeliest player to create something on his own for a while now. His header passes are not accurate and he tends to trip over soft challenges. He is an immensely talented player but he just doesn't connect with our players.
