Stoke Vs City Post match Discussion Thread

slightly worrying though , 4 games in and no particularly good performances. i do agree though we were a tad unlucky not to win.

If you offered Blues the results we've had I think many would take it, the performances haven't been great but we still nearly stole another win today.

United got lucky at Southampton but lost at Everton, they may be ahead for now but they've had 3 bankers since Everton, we've already disposed of 2 of our hardest away games and haven't lost either.

This season more than ever seems to be saying to the top teams "must win your home games and try and steal away wins if you can but getting draws is the requirement", I think going away from home is getting harder and harder for all the top teams.

Totally agree with you.

If you substitute Southampton for Wolves last season, we are the same number of points as last season in the corresponding fixtures played so far, utd are 3 points and -8 goal difference.... but don't worry, todays result against Wigan (last year 5-0) shows they won't lose the title on GD again, must be true as Slur Alex said so.

We're not playing as fluently as last season but we have a belief even when we go behind, 5 points gained from losing positions is a good sign for when we tighten up the defence.

The place is a bear pit and a very good point.

We're like a world title boxer at present, feeling our way through the early exchanges, taking the occasional blow.

The class is undoubted and while there will always opponents with a punchers chance, once the ring rust has been shaken off, just a case of stepping on the gas and choosing when to start delivering killer blows.

Top four, two points behind a Chelsea who have had it piss easy so far, a very encouraging start.

On the flip side, think we are going in with a true super heavyweight on Tuesday and we need to hold on for dear life.

It's the sign of Champions. Not playing well but still getting the results and picking up the points.

Lets all calm down. It's not panic stations time just yet...

we should never be happy with a draw.

Years ago a draw away from home was considered to be the ideal result , providing your won your home games that was !

But these days , with three points for a win , i agree it's not really a result that you could ever really feel 'over the moon' with , and especially if you'd had the majority of the shots at goal , and most of the chances ....

i really do feel that , if we'd scored just once more today , Stoke wouldn't have come back from it ...... and we'd have had two extra points in the bag

it heaps pressure on us to beat Arsenal now , and that coming after a difficult visit to Real Madrid ......

we need to be more clinical .

The big plus today was Chelsea drawing (fancy that a Mark Hughes side drawing a game). We don't want them running away with it early doors we need to stay within 3 points.

Just read we have won only 5 in 15 away games.

Wow, that is not good enough for a champions team!
Its not good enough, but I did see some positive signs. Fulham away in a few weeks will be a good test.

Not sure why the Barry for Tevez sub is so hard to understand?

He wanted Yaya further forward, so had to sacrifice a forward player. Mario goes back for corners and is decent at getting a clearance in, so he needed to stay on. We needed to maintain the width so Nasri and at that point Sinclair had to stay on. Yaya had to go in the hole, where Tevez was. Tevez isn't a wide player whereas Nasri can play there, so he took Tevez off.

The Yaya further forward sub has paid of plenty of times so it can't be criticised.

Personally i'd have swapped Silva for Nasri at the same time, but it shouldn't be hard to understand the Barry Tevez sub. You have to maintain shape and the "took a striker off and a def midfielder on at 1-1" argument is very naive.
A man who understands the game.

Take a bow, mate.
