I reported it to the bank straight away, but havent gone to the police... As i rang the HSBC fraud line i presumed thats all i had to do, that they had some contact with the police. Do you reckon i should ring the police too?

I'd say yes, given that a crime has been committed.
That is what the police are supposed to be there for.

There's one on my bus again checking tickets. I'll have a word with him it it helps?

How do you know which cash machine they used by the way?

Checked my internet banking

Re: Stolen bank card/money gone

its theft so you should get your money back, last year I found a card sticking out of a cash machine, when I pulled it out £200 followed, I handed it in. A couple of days later I was talking to a copper and he said that if I hadn't have handed it in they could have got my mug shot from the machine camera and I could have been done for "theft by finding". I know the situations aren't the same but if you're a victim of a crime then you generally have some protection IMO.

Re: Stolen bank card/money gone

You MUST inform the police. Believe it or not your bank won't inform the police. Your bank's T&Cs state that you are covered for all transactions AFTER you have informed them but they refuse to accept responsibility for any before. It's the same foir all banks.

On friday night i was in Noho in Manchester, my wallet was pickpocketed and my card taken. It must of happened when i was using my card to pay for a drink at the bar as 15 minutes later they were rinsing my account of my money... They must of seen me putting my pin in at the bar.

I was just wondering will i get my money back? Or will they say i should of shielded my pin better or any other loophole like that?

I know what time it happened, i know what the people looked like, i know what cash machine they used to draw the money out...so cctv evidence shouldnt be a problem. Having a tough month with christmas just gone and could really do with the money back

That's why in bars , or clubs , i always pay for drinks in cash ......

i also use a program called 'Rapport' on my computer to prevent anyone getting my bank details , passwords etc

All of this and you'll need an incident number for the bank to correlate with your claim.

My card was used by somebody an hour before i even realised it was stolen, even though thats the case they still wont give me my money back? CCTV could prove it was stolen, i know the exact time it was taken

You still need to report it to the police because you need to have an incident number to reference the crime.

Re: Stolen bank card/money gone

You need an incident/ crime number from the police.

I am also part of the "only use cash in pubs" gang. Plus in really busy pubs and clubs everything goes in my front pockets.
