On friday night i was in Noho in Manchester, my wallet was pickpocketed and my card taken. It must of happened when i was using my card to pay for a drink at the bar as 15 minutes later they were rinsing my account of my money... They must of seen me putting my pin in at the bar.

I was just wondering will i get my money back? Or will they say i should of shielded my pin better or any other loophole like that?

I know what time it happened, i know what the people looked like, i know what cash machine they used to draw the money out...so cctv evidence shouldnt be a problem. Having a tough month with christmas just gone and could really do with the money back

who the fuck uses a card to get a round in?

Have you seen the price of drink in those posh bars!

hey, it is near the end of january, everyone is skint or near it, get the kitty money and say you will get the beers in, pocket the kitty, buy it on the card, with a bit of cashback, report the card stolen and get the bankers to pay for you.
Genius, just wish I had thought of it.

Re: Stolen bank card/money gone

If I pay with a card when I'm out I only ever pay with a credit card. My reasoning is this

Its far better for me to have someone claiming I owe them money nand me saying go sing for it than for me to be trying to get money back off someone after a debit card has been defrauded.

If your pin has been used to get your cash you have got pretty much no chance of getting it back. If the pin was forced out of you in a robbery then maybe.

This^^^^ The banks brought in the Chip and Pin not to protect your money but to protect theirs. If your PIN number has been used then they will say that you have been neglegent. Unless as the above poster has said its been forced out of you, or your details were stoeln by a hidden camera fitted in a Cash Machine. I would never use a CC in a club, bar, restaurant . Always best to withdraw money first and pay with cash!

Re: Stolen bank card/money gone

i work for a bank, and have worked in the forensics department

they will usually ask a few questions about the incident.

reasons for a denial. is if you card was not with you at the time and you had not stopped the card , bank is not liable

if you have revealed your pin to anyone , bank is not laible

basically only these 2.

if claim is denied refer to the finiacial ombudsman, usually they are quite succesful
