Maybe it's me, but don't you reach an age where the penny drops that these big one offs are actually fucking miserable? Herded around like cattle and ripped off every which way.
Oasis, knebworth, 96 for me. The crowd singing spoilt it and the 7 mile walk after taught me a few home truths.
I saw one too many new order gigs, too, and realized watching old men doing karaoke versions of their songs in the distance actually sullies the memories.
I saw the roses the first time around at the hac and spike island. They were a shit live act then, in their prime.

It's not often that I agree with you DD.
Johnny Rotten. Is he that guy who sells butter on the tv?
The penny dropped with me a long time ago regarding 'event' concerts and festivals. I wasn't old enough to go to late 80's gigs and finally got my chance in 95. But then they cancelled and on came Pulp. It's funny, I was thinking of that line on Friday night.
'Oh is this the way they say the future's meant to feel? Or just 20,000 people standing in a field.'
Agree with you about New Order. Sad watching them deteriorate year after year until they looked like a tribute act. Barny with his monitor/ hearing aid in and Hooky holding his bass an inch off the floor. Playing same setlist night after night. Kinda glad they fell out really.
I for one had a good night Friday and can't get hold of anyone who went last night so they must have enjoyed it too.
