OP raises a fair point we're just lucky that at the moment most of the fees are being swallowed up by debt and aren't being spent on strengthening their squads.

Sven looked to overseas players, and for the most part they were either inconsistent, slow, or just soft.

He spent it on the wrong players though. I mean, Arshavin came from the Russian league, so did Vidic. Essien and Drogba from the French league and so on. There is alot of quality out there. Strengthening our rivals with boatloads of money isn't always a good option.

Prem proven players are the best option for city at the moment, look at all the best clubs in the prem : they buy foreign players rarely and hope the work out . sometimes it works:
Torres, Robinho, Ronaldo

and sometimes it doesnt:
Deco,Jo, and Materrazzi (Terrible spell at everton)

We can give Villa, Everton and even Arsenal etc much cash as you want because at the end of the day they still wont have the wage structure to attract the players that we can.

Plus if teams are going bust left right and centre in the Prem surely that will devalue the league making it less attractive to top players that we'll want to sign in the future.

Couldnt agree more!!!!! I dont condone racism but this do gooding, pc madness is now ridiculous. It was just a daft comment, a joke. Not a racial attack.

Well it would'nt have made a lot of sense as he is pissed in China. However dog is also a dish in China. They removed it from local restaurants during the Beijing games.
Parts of Thailand serve it too & im sure many other countries while we're way off the subject!

Just to open a new debate.
By paying top money for premiership players we are in most cases liquefying the assets of otherwise underfunded clubs. We are floating the prem by injecting all the cash. This is a very bad idea. Much better to buy from overseas clubs and let the other prem clubs struggle for money.

bollocks, look at villa, we buy barry they buy downing, we are taking the others best players and making them spend that money to compensate, plus if we buy prem proven then theres more chance in hitting the ground come the start of the season
