There seems to be a consensus that if you don’t like naming storms, you probably don’t like Ms Thunberg.

Hopefully Storm Greta will gnash some teeth in a few months time.
 
Bad weather in autumn / winter. What a shock.
Not really no, but if you’re looking for evidence of climate change, don’t look at individual storms even.

I think Scotland has a lot of rain coming tonight.

But given what happened in Cork last night, it’s not the ferocity of the wind or even that there was such a downpour that a month’s rain fell in a day.

The summer months over here were consistently well over a hundred % wetter than average.
Before last nights rainfall bringing October figures close to 250% the previous three month average was around 200%.

The ground is already saturated. There’s nowhere for the water to go.
