Storm Babet

bit windy here in Langley. Nipped out to Heywood earlier and it was the same - a bit windy.

Mate of mine lives near Rutland. Major floods there on the roads.

I live up on the Lincoln Edge (53m AMSL where my house is, around 1.5km back from the highest point of the edge at >70m), so definitely not on a flood plane.

I'm not sure this volume of water was ever considered when my house was built in the 1930's and the local roads haven't changed that much in all that time.

It's definitely the council's fault then. Poorly maintained drainage.

Apologies then. Weather is weather, it's outside our control. If there's flooding, it's down to poorly maintained or inadequate drainage. No-one can blame the weather for anything.
We are ruining the planet , we should have been taking action in the seventies and eighties , we absolutely can do something , even this late

It is within the scope of the gov and water companies and councils to sort the other stuff out , you sound like anything we do is hopeless, it is not

It's not entirely outside our control, though. Unless you're of the belief we as a species have no impact on weather at all. And floods happened before houses existed.
