Strange situation of City's exiled five players

Roque Santa Cruz would consider dropping down to the Championship but is waiting for Manchester City to make a decision on his future, according to his father.

The striker is well down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium and spent the second half of last season on loan with Blackburn, where he had impressed earlier in his career.

It is unclear where he will be plying his trade this term, but if a move does not materialise quickly it could turn out to be a frustrating campaign.

Santa Cruz's father and agent, Aproniano, claims there is a lot of interest in his son, who turned 30 on Tuesday and is desperate to play regularly.

Aproniano also says the player is keen to stay in English football but recognises that City are in control of the situation.

"He has a contract with City until June 2013 and is available for what the club decides to do," Aproniano told Paraguayan newspaper ABC.

"They are looking for another club for him because Roque wants to go to another team where he can have more chances to play.

"There are teams interested, but if he was not injured there would be more teams.

"Roque is comfortable in Manchester and I would like an English team more (than a move abroad)."

Santa Cruz's father has also indicated that Leeds United could be in with a chance of signing the experienced international, as he would be open to the idea of playing in the Championship.

"The second division is very competitive in England, with powerful teams in huge stadiums," said Aproniano

"There are important teams like Leeds United, but his future will be decided by Manchester."

3 million i think we should at least get £5 mill

like we all thought, the exiled players will be making their ways out, only the final week (days?) of the transfer window when their price is at an all-time low.

At this point, we probably can't be too worried about transfer fees (aside from Tevez), it's all about getting the wages off the books.
