Isn't that one of the words that started out as a proper noun but have now entered the lexicon as a verb or as a synonym for vacuum.?Working in an electrical retail background for over 20 years people who call vacuum cleaners Hoovers.

Unless you are actually buying a Hoover vacuum cleaner they should never be referred as Hoovers
