Stupid player sales

Is selling Zinchenko, to a rival none the less, one of the dumbest sales this club has ever done, all things considered?

It was a terrible move because he would still walk into our team at left back and had a big impact on our dressing room. We have not replaced Zin with anyone better.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I thought Zin might have played for Arsenal as a midfielder rather than as a left back.
Tierney is probably a better "conventional" left back than Zin but is a sicknote so Zin is a great replacement.

Still a big fan of Zin and he is a brilliant example of how determination can take you far in the game. Not replacing him adequately has left us short but there is no point in signing a player who is not good enough to challenge for a first team place. Curucella definitely seems like a bullet dodged.

I think the issue isn't letting Zinchenko go but letting him go to Arsenal, I wasn't worried about Sterling going to Chelsea because I expected him to do pretty much what he has but Jesus and Zinchenko going to Arsenal was a mistake in my opinion.

Think we’re falling into the trap of romanticising Zinny’s ability. He’s a really great person & had some good games for us but I remember thinking how many teams targeted him by putting a big player down that wing & Zinny often couldn’t defend against him very well. He is great going forward & our team doesn’t have many weak spots to target. Agreed we haven’t replaced him adequately but we don’t seem to want typical fullbacks.
Zinny will get done at Arsenal at some point this season.
Meanwhile, if all our defenders are fit for rest of the season, Ake is a better defender than Zinny will ever be.

Long way to go !!

Not sure really. I think Arsenal would be in pretty much the same position if we hadn't told them Jesus and Zinchenko (they'd have brought in other players).

The main issue was in not bringing in a decent enough replacement for Zinchenko but I suspect we didn't expect Cancelo's form to dip so much.
