Stuttgart vs City

That was the worst display of defending since.......well since i saw the same on numerous occasions last season! Mangala....will he ever make it with us??....I have my doubts. Kompany looks totally shot and like he has never played centre back before and as for our full backs....arghhh!!

We have to buy a top class defensive midfield player to shield this lot or hope our forwards can outscore the opposition or we are royally fucked.I have no idea who works on our shape or tactics but we are making the same mistakes we made most of last season and every team will fancy scoring against us,just like last year. That little run we had at the end masked how bad we were last season and if this hasn't convinced whoever is trying to buy our transfer targets they better get their finger out nothing will!

You can say it was a friendly, grow a pair etcetera but anyone who can't see nothing much has changed at the back needs a trip to specsavers!

I get where you're coming from but it seems silly to quote the points tally. The special **** won the league with a higher points tally...

Also Real got eliminated in the last 16 of the Champions League, that's what really got him the sack!
In preseason

And that year we went on to do quite well. Straws. Clutching. I know.

I agree totally. Still. Remember Amazulu.

Just on another subject, did anyone else notice how they kicked the shit out of City players, but as soon as they were touched they rolled around as if shot!

No it isn't though. He was sacked because Mourinho was available and Mourinho is a Galactico and Perez loves shiny objects. That's the only reason. He could have won the CL and it wouldn't have mattered to Perez (as he's shown before).

So on his C.V. under achievements, 2nd highest points total for Real Madrid.

As for Perez, I think you're right but ultimately he was vindicated as Maureen won the league and Pelle didn't.

One league title in 3 years is hardly vindication, there is very little to suggest Pellegrini wouldn't have done just as well if not better, without destroying the dressing room the way Mourinho did.

I'm no fan of Maureen but management wise you can't compare Pelle. Much nicer person though.

Glad we got THAT out of our system! Just shows you how frail and overpowered we can look with Nnasri, Silva, Sterling and Navas on the park at the same time. The 4-1-4-1 we were playing with Evans as the defensive 1 left him completely overexposed, especially considering at least one of the FBs was AWOL on every counter attack. So, bad day at the office, time to use this last week of training to get the South Americans back in the swing and the defence squared away.

On a good note, Evans did not look out of place as a big lad in the middle. He is young, so not thinking as quickly as he needs to, but that is simply an age/experience issue, and I would definitely keep him close to the First Team Squad, if not in it. Zucculini is full of running and can put a foot in, which I like, and can get forward. Lopes looks a step off the pace for me, and did in a previous pre-season game. I'm wondering if he is fully fit, even before he got the knock today. That said, the hustle to win the ball back today before he got scythed down bodes well for his ability to go both ways. Denayer looks like an 80% finished article, much like Mangala. Some time, work on the training ground, and a bit of added strength, and he should be a good un for many years to come. This year should be his coming out year in England, and with Managala, may be the perfect foil for the big strong defender, with what look like more cultured feet than any of our other defensive options in the middle.

All in all, I think we have a core group of highly experienced, world class players who can only help a very talented new generation of players coming through.

The future is Blue...but is 2015/16?

Im sorry but wasnt he midfielder? Didnt they walk though our midfield like there was no one? Silva, Sterling, Bony didnt get any service from midfield. He also lost ball stupid amount of times and we couldnt get hold of ball. Basically he was adding number to team sheet. Never will make it at this level, ever
Silva was a midfielder & was fucking dogshit for most of the game & gave the ball away stupidly on many occasions. He is rather more experienced, as is Nasri, who was worse still.

Evans did alright on a bad day, whether he makes it or not.

A pragmatist versus a dreamer, and some days, you just need to get a job done! That was the difference in the title race last season....horses for courses!
